Surprisingly spec'd very well, potential keeper!
A few initial comments. Amazon dropped these off today (none in stock locally) and won't be able to ride for a month or so due to ice covered streets. Some random thoughts.....

I'm a 32x32 in pretty much every jean or pant (fyi, 5'10" and 160 - 165 pounds, Cat 1 endurance mtb racer, very active trail runner, and road cyclist). The Cycle Gear Street & Steel Oakland pants have a longer pant length, about 33.5 or 34 which is spot-on for a riding position.

Comes with two somewhat stiff knee pads that can be adjusted in the knee pocket via hook and loop.

The color is not 1990s stonewashed heavy metal rocker but they are not super dark denim. And unlike some riding pants the fading on thigh areas are barely visible. I am not a fan of super distressed denim or fake weathered styling and these are overall a nice looking color I would not be embarrassed to be seen in.

A YKK zipper is pretty nice and the pants have a bit of stretch in them due to Elastane. Unfortunately that stretch may be the reason I am returning them because the 32 waist is too big. I can pull the pants off while zippered and buttoned. They make a 28 and 30 waist but those were out of stock everywhere. On second thought maybe I should wash the pants, but FYI, whatever waist size you normally wear be prepared for a very loose fit out of the box. Most lined riding pants want you to size up at least 1, but those normally do not have elastane/stretch material.

As for the kevlar, it covers the front from waist down below the knee, and in back it covers the butt and down to mid hamstring. The protective layer is pretty thick, NOT a flimsy thin sheet of knockoff Kevlar, and it's lined with a mesh-like material for air transport and wicking.

Saved my butt, LITERALLY
Long story short, I hit a jay walking pedestrian tonight and went flying about 15 feet off the bike and into the gravel embankment. Right knee bruised a little, jacket elbow sleeve shredded (Iwas wearing gear), helmet ate rock. Not a scratch on the jeans!! These saved my rear end for sure! Buying more this week!

First, see where the knee armor lines up on you.
I wear a 34 Waist x 30 inseam in regular Levi jeans. The 34 in these fit me spot on and are super comfortable. They have stretch fabric woven in and it really works well and are very comfortable.
Here is the problem. The knee protectors are too high. They are right at you knees when off the bike and above the knee when on the bike. I ride a Harley Ultra touring. Also the knee protectors are stiff and makes walking around a bit uncomfortable when walking around. I gave them 4 stars due to comfort, fit, and looks. They don't look like some alien space deal, but normal jeans. I may try and buy some soft armor and see if i can somehow lower the knee pockets inside. Also no hip or tailbone protection.

First pair is a winner
This is my first pair of riding jeans and I feel I got what I paid for. Fair price, great style, comfort and I would imagine good protection. Overall I'm very satisfied with them so far.

Street steel will definitely be a brand I look out for future gear purchases.

Fit great true to size I am 5'10" and 160. I got the 32 in black and it fit perfect they are a slim fit which I like. I rode them on a 90degree day and I was just as hot as the others I was with who were wearing regular jeans. They do feel about twice as thick as regular jeans but the mesh lineing combined with the stretch denim really works well.

Great pair of Riding Jeans
These are a great pair of riding jeans. My waist size is 34, but I bought a 32 and it fits perfectly fine.
Denim material is stretchable, so there's enough room around the waist, thighs and knee armor.

The length of the jeans could have been increased a size or two if tucked into the ankle of the boot, it pops up while riding.
but if you have an adventure touring/similar boots it's not a big concern.

A suggestion to the manufacturer, If you are planning to upgrade these jeans. Do include pockets for hip armor. it will be a great addition.

Overall, perfect fit and VFM for the price tag.

Really surprised with how well these fit and feel for the price. Will definitely buy again!
I was looking and ready to pull the trigger on riding jeans that were 3x the cost (Klim k fifty 1) I couldn't find any of the Klim pants in stock anywhere and definitely wanted to try them on before purchasing such an expensive pair of jeans. I went to my local cycle gear and saw these and figured why not at least try them on. I'm glad I did, these things are comfy! Can't even tell they are riding pants. I don't care for the knee pads but I have a set of Leatt 3df hybrid knee guards coming in Friday. The first thing I fell in love with was the stretchy material... I don't know how they accomplished that but I sure do dig it (the pants look and feel like denim but have a bit of spandex like stretch to them). I also ordered a set of Leatt impact shorts that are also coming in Friday. I imagine the stretch these jeans have will work well with the impact shorts. I ride a husky 701 supermoto and have a set of alpinestars tech 2 shorty boots as well as a set of fox comp 5 full boot, the stretch in these jeans allows me to pull the pant leg over both boots nicely. The fit of these jeans is nice (I'm picky when it comes to pants) they aren't too slim but not too baggy either. Honestly for $100 I don't see how a guy could go wrong. I'm 6'3" and 210 lbs, I usually wear a 36w 34L pant and bought a set of 36 in these jeans. They fit a little loose around the waist but so do my normal jeans (I always wear a belt) they aren't crazy loose but enough that I would need a belt (this looser fit on top of the stretch should be perfect for the impact shorts) if I wasn't planning to wear the impact shorts with these I may have tried on a pair of 34's but these still fit fine with a belt and no impact shorts.

Nice Jeans
Overall 'm happy with the jeans, my only complaint is that the knee protection would have to be removed if you were to walk in them for awhile, since it presses against your knees when not riding.

Good value
I currently have a pair of riding jeans by Ugly Bros and also a pair of Iron Worker. I love the fit and design of the UB, but they cost much more. The IW is too relax fit for me, so that is why I am looking for an alternative.
Note that I am reviewing the fit only as I have not purchased these.
I am 5'7", 150 lbs, 32" ~ 33" true waist and normally wear size 30 or 31 pants with 30" inseam. For these, size 30 fits the best and I would not go smaller.
The inseam is way too long, but I could have these hemmed.
The only issue now is the knee pads position. They are higher then the knees, so I may just remove them.
The material is stretchy, so the fit is more of a slim ~ straight jeans. With the Kevlar reinforcement, I'd be expecting a bit warm when wearing these, but should be manageable.

Great comfortable jeans !
Great jeans!! These jeans fit perfectly, the size is spot on (6' 190lbs) and they are super comfortable. The armor is placed just right. I highly recommend these jeans.

how true to size do these jeans run?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My waist size is 33 and I wear a 34 [American brand jeans], When I tried a pair of Oakland jeans with waist size 34 it was larger than the regular 34 size jeans.
Ordered a pair of jeans with 32 waist size. It was a snug fit, The denim is stretchable. It worked well.

My advice - Go for one size smaller that your regular jeans size.
