Own the trail or job site like never before with top UTV and ATV tires from Cycle Gear. Perhaps the quickest and easiest way to give your quad or side by side a performance boost is to install new UTV or ATV tires for sale. Stock tires do just fine for normal use, but since they're not specialized for any one terrain or activity, they don't really excel at anything. For superior performance and handling, aftermarket tires are the way to go. Even if you just need a replacement for your old tires, you've come to the right place.
Before we get into different types of tires, let's talk about how to read tire specifications. There are three numbers to read on the tire wall, which are also listed online for each product. You'll see it as 25x10-12 for example. The first number is the tire height, which displays the height of the tire in inches when properly inflated. The next number represents the total tire width. Finally, the third number displays the rim diameter or the wheel size that fits the tire. Refer to your owners manual for the ideal tire size for your vehicle. While you can stray slightly from the recommended tire size, do so with caution. Often, you're inviting increased wear on certain components that can cause premature breakdown, even if you receive a certain performance boost like better grip from wider tires.
One more important note, you'll want to pay attention to how the tire is built, either as a bias-ply tire or radial tire. Bias-ply tires are tougher and feature rugged sidewalls, but they don't exactly provide the best ride. (Speaking of ply, you can find 2-4 ply UTV and ATV tires here, popular 6 ply UTV and ATV tires here, 8 ply UTV tires and 10 Ply UTV tires here.) Radial tires provide a much smoother ride, but they are less durable and more vulnerable to punctures. You can tell if it is a radial tire by looking for an “R” in the specs like this: 25x10R-12.
Once you know your tire size, it is time to talk tire types. Cycle Gear stocks several different variants of UTV and ATV tires for sale. A good place to start for many is an all-terrain or all-purpose tire. While an all-terrain tire faces some of the limitations of a stock tire, they are often built with better materials. Casual riders who want to tackle different terrain types but avoid the extremes will be happy with this variety. However, if you like to get deep into muddy patches, you're going to need mud tires. Large, angled lugs on mud tires ensure you navigate watery pits with ease. Sand tires are well-suited for dune and desert applications as they feature large paddle treads that provide traction in loose terrain. While some manufacturers produce snow tires for winter conditions, a sand tire or mud tire will suffice for many winter applications. Riders can also add a set of tire chains to just about any tire to boost its winter traction. Finally, adrenaline junkies and competitors will want to mount race tires on their vehicle. These tires are focused on grip and speed, two essential things when you're trying to cross the finish line first. Remember, there is no shame in keeping a few different tire types on your trailer!
