Great looking helmet
After trying on a lot of helmets, I chose this one since it fit so much better than the others and didn't rip my ears off putting it on & taking it off like most do. This is my first helmet ever so I don't have a ton of experience with other helmets thru the years but I really like the transistion lens. I have blue eyes which are very sensitive to the sun and with this lens, I don't have to wear sunglasses under my helmet which is a huge plus! I also picked this helmet because of the Sena Comm port which fits like a glove and doesn't stick out on side of helmet like others. Airflow is fantastic so I haven't had fog-up problems. One down sound has been wind noise. It's louder than I was expecting but again, I have nothing to compare to at this point. Overall, I think this is a great helmet that you can't go wrong with!

Hopeful but disappointed
I was hopeful this was going to be a good helmet for me. Lots of features, good safety features. I liked the idea of the transition visor. What I didn't like: Visor tint could be a bit darker. Lots of wind noise from the bluetooth communicator port! I don't plan to have a communicator so it's not a feature i was looking for. The chin breeze guard or whatever, won't stay attached on one side. Unfortunately, this one is going back. I hoped for a winner, here but the search continues.

Best for beginners and $300 range purchases
This helmet is great. It is loud, so wear earplugs for longer rides.

Pro:
-Comfortable after it's broken in (about 45-60 minutes of wearing it should do).
-Plenty of vents (although the padding blocks most of the airflow, so semi-pointless; just crack the bottom of the visor and it will shut itself when you get to higher speeds).
-Transition visor is a major plus for this helmet.
-Side panel for compatible Bluetooth communications devices. I haven't been able to test this yet, so no reviews yet. I'm waiting to see if Sena will have compatible mounting brackets for this helmet with the new Sena 10c Pro (the new one that's coming out with a built-in HD camera)
-Visor is easily removed and reinstalled for cleaning/replacement.

Con:
-Loud AF (Recommended to wear ear protection with this helmet). The wind is deafening and will cause hearing damage in the long run. Again, wear ear protection if you care about yourself.
-Cleaning the visor is a normal routine, but the visor needs to be treated for fogging every 2-3 rides or after each long ride. Possibly due to the "Fog Off!" solution I'm using. Also, the Anti-Fog packets work well in a pinch, so keep some of those with you in your bike or the spray for when you have more time for gear maintenance. Water sticks to the visors outside like glue, so also treat it for rain/water.
-The vents only allow a gentle airflow in at higher speeds, but they're better than nothing. I usually have to keep the bottom cracked for when I don't have the inside treated for fogging up.

All-in-all, this is a great helmet for beginners and people that are comfortable in the $300 range. I love the transition visor it comes with; it just needs some UV light on it and it will turn black in a minute. It will go back to clear after about 3-15 minutes of darkness or being inside.

Great helmet, poor delivery...... literally
Bought the helmet from Cyclegear store but had it shipped to home, and was concerned on the delivery of the "brain" bucket. Was assured by staff that they are well packed and nothing to worry about. Was at home and delivery was soon to be at my front door. Knew right away that it was delivered as there was a thud on my steel door as the driver just tossed it and ran back into his FedEx delivery truck. Nothing on the box to handle with care, nothing noting "this way up". I told myself all was ok since I was assured the thing I am putting my head into is well packed and cared for. Nope. Just a teeny tiny bit. Three air pillow packs on the very top of the bell box inside the plain brown box it was packed into and a very thin film of polystyrene surrounding the helmet that was inside the red helmet bag. No way to exchange since it is an odd size and needs to be ordered. I have used it, and I like the transition lens and I do like the features of the pocket for bluetooth adaptability. Would I buy it again? yes. Would I get it delivered? Nope, and I'll hesitate to have anything shipped from Cyclegear again. I hope to never find out if this thing is compromised, but if it is, well, I guess my family will be slightly taken care of by the insurance Co. My only advice is to have a normal sized melon, take delivery of it at the store as they only carry normal melon sized head shapes, and pray that some knucklehead wasn't trying to bowl with it before putting it back onto the shelf

Can I still attach my sena 20s on the outside of this helmet ? I don't want to downgrade to the 10
Marcos G on Sep 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can, that's what I did. It won't fit into the slot that they cut out for the 10 but it'll still attach on
Are all sizes (including the 3XL) ECE and DOT certified? I have a pretty big head and from what I've seen a lot of 3XL aren't certified.
A C on Dec 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would check with Bell USA, first. You should be able to find a number online.
What is the disadvantages of the SMH-10 as compared to newer models?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Noise level is greater on the left side. Not great for long distance.
Is there a padding option to accommodate glasses?
A shopper on May 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: NO. Helmet is snug at temples. You would be best to consider contact lenses when using this helmet.
