Highside/Lowside podcast: All about electronic rider aids, the good and bad

Dec 11, 2024

Anti-lock brakes, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, quickshifters, dual-clutch transmissions, adaptive cruise control, electronically adjustable suspension, and riding modes galore! Are electronics taking over the motorcycling experience? And what are the upsides and downsides of all this electronic assistance?

That's the topic of the latest episode of the Highside/Lowside motorcycle podcast. Your hosts, Spurgeon and Zack, are joined by our tech-savvy colleague Ari Henning to discuss the history and current state of electronic rider aids. There's two sides to these features: safety and performance. Traction control can save you from an unnecessary spill when you hit an unseen slick spot, but it can also help you maximize drive out of a corner at your track day by controlling wheelspin. If it's optimally calibrated.

Watch the podcast below to hear the guys' takes on the pros, cons, and quirks of today's electronic rider aids, as well as some speculation of what the future may bring.
