From the Common Tread team to all our faithful readers, we send wishes for a happy Christmas to all who celebrate, holiday end-of-year cheer to all, and a sincere hope that 2026 is a good year for all of us.
We're taking a day off, but if you're in the mood for some relevant reading, we have some for you.
Over the years, how many people have written knock-offs of Clement Clarke Moore's "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (better known for its opening line, "'Twas the night before Christmas...")? Many. Arguably too many. And you can be forgiven for forgetting that two of our former Common Tread writers did the same. It's been a while. Both of those questionable exercises in poetic emulation are deep in the archives now.

Deepest in the archives is our former colleague Lemmy's raunchier version. Considering that it depicts our own Director of Content Programming Spurgeon Dunbar allegedly doing nighttime burnouts in the cold while wearing no pants, I'm surprised Spurg hasn't sneaked into the database to delete that one at some point in all these years. Then there's the far more safe-for-work-and-polite-company version that our former writer Andy Greaser penned a few years ago. Andy was inspired by the real-life example of a motorcyclist in a Santa Claus suit thwarting crime in France.

We'll be back tomorrow with more motorcycle news and opinions, but until then, enjoy the ride!
