Kev’s life has been one of crossroads. It all started when he opted to write repair manuals (for Chilton Book Company) instead of attending law school and his fellow editors at Chilton got him on a motorcycle for the first time. From that day forward, his obsession never waned. He couldn’t afford a car and a bike, so the car had to go when he bought his first-ever new motor vehicle (a 1993 Harley-Davidson XL1200 Sportster) that he commuted on hours each way through the Pennsylvania winters.

It wasn’t much later in life that he again came to a crossroads and turned down a master brewer apprenticeship on the left coast in order to stay in the world of the internal combustion engine.

For decades now he’s continued to write repair manuals (for just about anything with an engine), while also indulging in his passions for bikes, beer, and martial arts (largely traditional Shotokan Karate, where he met his better half). He likes anything with two wheels, from a dresser to a Vespa, but his personal tastes tend largely toward Harley, Guzzi, BMW, and the occasional Buell or Ducati.

He’s not sure whether he chose the path less traveled, but he has no regrets.
