2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide first look: Limited-edition Americana

Jun 15, 2026

1971 was the year. The year “Dirty Harry” hit theaters. The year Led Zeppelin released “Stairway to Heaven.” It was also the year Harley-Davidson introduced its first-ever factory custom, the FX Super Glide.

Fifty-five years removed from that landmark cruiser, the Super Glide rejoins H-D’s lineup once again. However, Harley isn’t reviving the nameplate as a nod to the model’s history. It’s tapping into the Super Glide’s nostalgia and Americana to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States.

Fashion, forward

The 1971 FX Super Glide’s look was unmistakable. The narrow Sportster front end. The buckhorn bars. The boat-tail fender. The red, white, and blue livery. Lest we forget all that chrome. The 2026 Super Glide largely follows those guidelines, but a few stylistic twists help modernize the old Big Twin.

The wheels are still spoked, but they’re now tubeless. The buckhorns are now mini-apes. The dual shocks are now a monoshock, and the boat tail is now a bobbed mudguard (if you can call it that). There’s still chrome galore. The graphics are still spot on. Even the tank console is a loving recreation of the original.

There are just enough revisions to freshen up the aged formula, but beneath those aesthetic hallmarks lies the same Softail DNA that many Hog enthusiasts have come to know and love.

Same old, same old

When it comes to the Super Glide’s performance, there are few surprises to go around. The Classic-tuned version of the 117 ci (1,923 cc) Milwaukee-Eight V-twin returns, delivering a claimed 98 horsepower and 120 foot-pounds of torque. The 49 mm fork features double-bending valves, and the rear monoshock still offers just 3.4 inches of travel. A single caliper front brake setup may not seem like sufficient stopping power, but a 292 mm rear disc brake provides ample assistance.

The Super Glide bears a striking resemblance to the Softail Low Rider, a model Harley-Davidson discontinued in 2021. Harley-Davidson photo.

The electronics suite goes unchanged, too, with lean-dependent ABS, traction control, and drag torque slip control governing the ride experience. Selectable ride modes (Road, Sport, and Rain) adapt the power delivery to the circumstances, while an LCD digital display pairs retro styling with modern-day functionality. Harley also tosses in a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for good measure.

If you find yourself saying, “That’s just a regular Softail with a fancy paint job and a few farkles,” you’re not wrong. The thing is, Harley prices the 2026 Super Glide as such, starting the limited-run model at $15,999. That’s just $1,000 more than the base model Street Bob.

The four bikes in Harley-Davidson's Liberty Enthusiast Collection lined up in a dimly lit studio.
Speaking of special editions, Harley also added the Road Glide Liberty Edition to its 2026 Enthusiast Collection, which already included the Street Glide, Street Glide 3, and Heritage Classic. The paint treatment tacks an extra $3,000 on top of the Road Glide’s $25,999 MSRP. Harley-Davidson photo.

Limited to 2,500 units, the Super Glide will only be available at U.S. and Canadian H-D dealerships. Those bikes are currently arriving on showroom floors. Just in time for the 250th birthday of the United States.
