While its U.S. competitor, Harley-Davidson, focuses ever more on expensive touring motorcycles and offers fewer entry-level options, Indian is taking the opposite approach. On top of the five Scout models introduced earlier this year, Indian is now unveiling three updated Scout Sixty models for 2025, including one with an MSRP of $9,999.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Indian is also issuing another limited-edition Roadmaster Elite for 2025 with all the features and a special tri-color paint job that, at $41,999, costs as much as three Scout Sixty Bobbers and one Scout Sixty Classic combined.
Let's start with accessibility before exclusivity.
Indian Sport Scout Sixty, Scout Sixty Bobber, and Scout Sixty Classic
The Scout Sixty models get their name from the smaller 999 cc V-twin engine they carry, compared to the 1,250 cc units in the regular Scouts (even if they really displace 61 cubic inches, not 60). Indian has redesigned the Scout Sixty engine and now claims 85 horsepower, up from the previous version's 78. Along with the smaller displacement comes a five-speed transmission, instead of the six-speed on the larger Scouts.
The Scout Sixty comes in three flavors and two trim levels. The Sport Scout Sixty is the "club style" option with a mini-ape-hanger handlebar, a small fairing, and a 19-inch front wheel. The Bobber provides a more stripped-down look and the Classic goes for a more, well, classic look, with flared fenders and more chrome. Since all three share the same powertrain, front suspension, and brakes, the differences are mostly down to choosing the style you prefer and slight variations in ergonomics.
Each of the three models is available in Standard trim and Limited trim. Even the Standard trim comes with LED lighting and ABS, and this year Indian added a fuel gauge. The Limited package adds cruise control, traction control, and ride modes.
Pricing takes a little explanation. The base prices listed in the spec box at the bottom of this article are for the standard package. Add $700 U.S. (or $800 in Canada) for the Limited package. If you want the basic bike, I hope you also like basic black, because that's the only color available with the Standard package. In addition to the charge for the Limited package, you'll also have to pay a few hundred dollars extra for colors other than black, such as Springfield Blue, Heavy Metal Smoke, and Frost Silver.
Indian doesn't skimp on accessories, either, as Scouts are likely to be pressed into a variety of duties. Saddlebags and a detachable windshield make the entry-level Indians more prepared for long trips, an optional four-inch touchscreen display offers navigation and other features, and a variety of seats, handlebars, and forward controls allow for 32 different ergonomic combinations, Indian calculates.
When added to the 1,250 cc Scouts Dustin tested earlier this year, that makes 14 different Scout variations available, when you add up the different models and trim levels. And the Scout Sixty Bobber is the least expensive way to get into a new cruiser from an American company. Harley-Davidson may be pulling back from the entry-level market, but Indian is clearly doubling down.
2025 Indian Roadmaster Elite
That doesn't mean Indian is abandoning the limited-edition luxury niche, however. The other updated model for 2025 is at the opposite end of the price spectrum from the Scout Sixty Bobber. The Roadmaster Elite will be a limited run of 300 units for the 2025 model year and the price starts at $41,999 in the United States.
Naturally, for that price you get all the luxury features, and since it's a classic American touring rig, that includes a high quality paint job. This year, the Roadmaster Elite gets a combination of Springfield Blue, a color from Indian's early days, along with a black fade, both in a candy finish, overlaid on a silver base coat. Gold-outlined Indian headdress logos and hand-painted gold pinstripes catch the eye and, of course, there's plenty of chrome, too.
The Thunderstroke 116 engine comes with three ride modes to adjust throttle response and the adaptive LED headlight adjusts for lean angle to illuminate the road at night. (See full specs all the way at the bottom.)
Luxury touches include a heated and cooled rider and passenger seat, a premium sound system with no less than 12 speakers, an electrically adjustable windshield, and remote locking saddlebags and trunk. The sound system is controlled through a seven-inch touchscreen display that also provides Bluetooth connectivity, access to navigation, additional information, and Apple CarPlay.
