Yesterday, Harley-Davidson unveiled the latest entries in its Icons and Enthusiast Collections. The former celebrates Harley history, with models like the Electra Glide Revival and Low Rider El Diablo recapturing bygone eras. The latter salutes brand enthusiasts, as demonstrated by the military-inspired Pan America 1250 Special and the Fast Johnnie series in 2023.
The Motor Company keeps both lines current in 2024, introducing the Hydra-Glide Revival and Tobacco Fade models as the newest additions to the Icons and Enthusiast Collections (respectively).
Honoring the Hydra-Glide
Based on the existing Softail platform, the 2024 Hydra-Glide Revival merges modern tech with Harley’s post-war glory. The Milwaukee manufacturer released its first model with a hydraulically damped telescopic fork — marketed as the Hydra-Glide — in 1949. With 2024 marking the 75th anniversary of that major development, the Hydra-Glide Revival harkens back to hallmarks of the time.
Its Redline Red paint and Birch White tank panels were prominent features on 1956 models, while the “Harley-Davidson V” tank badge and “Hydra-Glide” fender script plates draw inspiration from Harley branding of 1955-56. Even the instrument graphics resemble those found on 1954-55 speedometers. Of course, that’s only in addition to the two-tone, color-matched windshield, steel laced wheels, and chrome finishes.
The leatherwork receives just as much attention, with the solo saddle embellished in fringe, studs, and conchos. The saddlebags receive a similar treatment but also benefit from a rigid liner, keyed locks, and water resistance.
Beneath all that nostalgia, the Milwaukee-Eight 114 powers the limited-edition trim with the assistance of a Screamin’ Eagle high-flow air cleaner. Tech also modernizes the model, with electronic cruise control and LED auxiliary lamps suited for Interstate-conquering road trips. All 1,750 units retail for $24,999 and feature a serialized insert on the handlebar along with an Icons Collection graphic on the rear fender.
For those about to rock…
Inspired by the “burst of collective energy released by live music,” the Tobacco Fade Enthusiast Collection brings the “classic sunburst wood finish” found on guitars, bass, and drums of the 1960s to the Low Rider ST, Ultra Limited, and Tri Glide Ultra.
The treatment includes a sunburst fade and a metallic gold panel outlined by a caramel-colored pinstripe; all laid atop Harley’s Vivid Black paint.
The fuel tank emblem emulates the grooves of vinyl records, while a guitar pick-shaped front fend graphic adds a thematic bow to the package.
H-D will produce 2,000 units of all three Tobacco Fade models, with the Low Rider ST starting at $25,299, the Ultimate Limited retailing for $35,399, and the Tri Glide Ultra going for $41,999. Harley will display the 2024 Icons and Enthusiast Collections at Daytona Bike Week on March 2-9, but all models are currently available at U.S. dealers.
