S&S Cycle 583 Easy Start Camshaft Kit For Harley Twin Cam

S&S Easy Start Cam Kits belong on the shortlist for hot bike builds and for riders who put reliability first. They are designed for performance, then updated to deliver strong power with easier starting and without the need for compression releases, oversized batteries or expensive starters. Each cam uses a spring loaded centrifugal compression release lobe machined into the heel of the exhaust lobe. At cranking speeds, it nudges the exhaust valve open slightly during the compression stroke to reduce starting effort. Once the engine fires and reaches 800 RPM, the lobe retracts from the tappet roller path so the engine runs normally at full compression.

Start any engine regardless of displacement or compression ratio with a stock starter
Save your starter and battery; tested for 10,000 starts without running battery down
Allows for easy start by initially reducing cranking compression, but once the engine starts and rpm increases, the compression release lobe is centrifugally retracted and the engine runs normally, with full compression, and without any loss in performance
Available in chain drive and gear drive versions
All chain drive cams include installation kit
All gear drive cams include 4-gear set and installation kit
Made in the USA
