S&S Cycle 551 Easy Start Camshaft Kit For Harley Twin Cam

The S&S Easy Start Cam Kit belongs on the shortlist for hot bike builds or any setup where reliability matters most. It delivers strong performance without the hassle of compression releases, oversized batteries or high-dollar starters. S&S engineered these cams to make solid power while improving starting behavior. A centrifugal spring-loaded compression release lobe is milled into the heel of each exhaust lobe. At cranking speeds, it opens the exhaust valve slightly during the compression stroke to reduce load on the starter. Once the engine fires and reaches 800 rpm, the lobe retracts from the tappet roller path so the engine runs normally at full compression.

Allows for easy start by initially reducing cranking compression, but once the engine starts and rpm increases, the compression release lobe is centrifugally retracted and the engine runs normally, with full compression, and without any loss in performance
