The front guard securely attaches to a sturdy 22mm axle, replacing the left side spacer with a robust 8.5mm thick hub mount and still preserving the essential seal at the wheel bearing. With two M6 fasteners and three points of positive engagement, the front guard is built for superior protection against lateral impacts while supporting beams shield from direct blows. It covers the rotors' most vulnerable edges, shielding them from potential hits. AltRider's thoughtful engineering means no reliance on the lighter, threaded axle screw or the caliper bolt for mounting, as they can't withstand direct impacts. Equally, the front axle clamp bolts are not used due to their lack of structural support.
The rear guard takes a different approach, swapping out the factory brake hanger for a custom-designed one that balances strength and reduced weight, specifically avoiding the use of the non-impact-resistant OEM hanger. AltRider succeeds in creating one of the lightest guards available that not only avoids excessive buildup of mud but also adds the least possible unsprung weight to your ride.
