Long Johns NOT Long Enough
I bought these (size 2XL) to see how well they would do as a winter base layer. They definitely work as advertised, and I like the material. However, the build quality of the garment could be better and the fit just isn't proportional; the waist is a bit large and the legs are way too short for anyone that has even slightly longer than short to average length legs. The stirrups broke the first time I put them on. Was going to return them but decided to keep 'em as they do keep you warm. Cycle gear, please please PLEASE start making/offering pants in "long" sizes.

Bottom line, if you have a more compact, powerful build these will be great; if you are a taller person I would pass.

PROS: Warm, Work as advertised

CONS: Not the best quality, Don't fit quite right

Terrible fit
I like the material in the freeze-out line, but had to return the long johns due to the fit. They are cut too low in the back as well as having an almost non-existent butt. This means that once you are on on your bike, regardless of your seating position, the back of the long johns are down by the crack of your butt!

PROS: Material

CONS: Fit

Would not buy again
I own the balaclava and love it so I figured I couldn't go wrong with the long johns, especially with them on sale... I was wrong. First, the fit on these is tragically wrong. Seriously, who designed these? They're worse than hip huggers; they're plumbers-crackers. These could not have been designed by anyone that rides. They need a higher rise all the way around, and especially in the back.

Second, the seams are weak. The first time I pulled these on the waist band ripped. I didn't tug these on like I was playing tug 'o war with my feet, I pulled them up like I would a normal pair of thermals. Apparently I'm asking too much.

Bottom line, the idea was brilliant but the execution sucks. I would hope that Cycle Gear would field test these things before pushing them so hard. I have grown to trust Cycle Gear and their recommendations over the years but this time I think they dropped the ball. If they can get the manufacturer to fix these defects I think they will have a great product on their hands but in the meantime I wouldn't waste the time or money in trying these out.

PROS: Material

CONS: Weak seams, Poor Fit

fit is funky
I can only comment on fit, since I haven't had the opportunity to take a cold weather ride yet.

I wear 38 in casual jeans, 36 in dress slacks. When sized as such, I usually buy XL pants, or L if they are to be an under layer. I bought these in L, they didn't come close to fitting.

So, I exchanged for XL and the fit on these is still a little strange. First the lower legs are REALLY tight, I can barely pull them over my calves. Second, they are cut really low; think extreme plumbers crack when in a sportbike position. Combined with the low cut, the butt/crotch upper part of the pants are kind of...I guess 'frumpy' is the best word I can think of to describe it.

Despite all that, I think they will be adequate under a pair of leather pants on a chilly ride. Alas, only time will tell. However, I may suggest a friend to explore other options for a thermal, wind blocking long john.

Great performer so far
Bought these on sale to wear under my jeans when the weather got cool. Its been in the low 30's and so far all I need are my long johns and blue jeans. Now to get the other freeze out garments for the rest of me.

Great buy
Without a doubt, worth every penny, when you buy them on sale. Keeps out the wind, even in freezing temps. I ride year round, these are much better at blocking the wind than regular thermals. The wicking of the inner fleece keeps them tolerable as the temperature increases. I can stand wearing them under my dress clothes even if the temp reaches about 70F.

I take meticulous care of them, never putting them in the dryer, washing in an HE front loader. For the price, worth buying several sets.

I wear these under my slacks, even below 32F.

A definate "must have", for any REAL rider, that rides in any weather.

PROS: Versatile, Lightweight, Durable, Easy To Use

BEST USES: Long Rides, Street

Awesome
I got these about 2 weeks ago and intended to wear them under riding pants. I rode once with textile pants and these long johns were VERY warm, but returned the riding pants cause they didn't fit right. So, today I rode with the FreezeOut pants under my jeans in 42 degree weather where I live just east of Denver. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to be warm the entire trip at 65mph. Only after the sun set was I feeling cool. These are awesome and worth every penny - even better that they are on sale. The only negative I can say about these pants is that the waist cut in the back is a little low and feels like your lower back is hanging out. I like my waist bands to ride a little higher, but with my underwear and jeans, the low riding sensation was not noticeable.

PROS: Comfortable, Warm

CONS: Waist
