I ride 100 miles round trip 5 days a week to work in Rush hour traffic. I was hit broadside and I slid 60 feet on my face. Aside from the grinding noise of the road, it was a very comfortable hit and slide. This helmet protected my grey matter! Just take my word for it. The blue tooth is fantastic and helmet itself is very comfortable and solid. I will be getting another one... sadly I will retire the old one, but it will always be displayed in my garage as a reminder of the life that I owe it.

PROS: Safety

If you are wondering if you are spending money on an inferior product then let me tell you that I wondered the same thing until I was hit by a car last night. My head hit the ground first and my Bilt helmet saved my life. My head hit full force to the ground and other than a bad headache, I survived unscathed. Worth every penny.

Bilt Techno Bluetooth Modular
I waited a month to leave a review for the helmet so I could get a good feel for the fit and functionality.

Bluetooth: This was my favorite feature of the helmet. My lone prior Bluetooth helmet was a Vega Summit 3.0 and the sound quality improvement was night and day. It really is true that people don't know your riding your bike when your talking on it. I've used it both for music listening and connecting to a second helmet. Both were great. I was surprised to talk at normal low volumes and hear so well.

Sizing: I would go with the recommendation of getting one size larger than you normally purchase. I did this and it fits great. My rides are normally just a couple hours long and its been very comfortable. It did tend to fold down my ears at first, but its easy enough to pull the opening wider and I don't even notice it now.

Wind Noise: Its rare that I go over 60 mph, but I didn't notice any issue with noise. The volume control for Bluetooth was more than loud enough to make up for any wind noise and it doesn't seem to have any impact at all on phone calls.

MSC: The sun visor takes a little getting used to, but is second hand now. I haven't been able to tell if the vents are letting in more air, but I normally keep the clear visor open a little so its not needed.

I ride maybe twice a week and normally for less than 3 hours. This seems like the perfect price point for the features included for the amount of riding I do.

PROS: Very good sound quality, Great Value

Awesome Helmet
I purchased Bilt's first version and it was horrible. Four of my friends recommended this helmet to me. They loved it. I purchased the helmet and did testing immediately. I started at 50mph upwards to 110mph and my call never faded or the clarity diluted. AWESOME! I then did an 800 mile test. Every person that called did not know I was riding my motorcycle. I had to inform them that I was riding. That alone proves the quality of the DWO-3 Bluetooth technology.

My ears were folded but I corrected that by wearing a silk riding cap. It prevents my ears from getting caught as I put on the helmet.

PROS: Awesome Clarity, Decent weight, Automatic Answer, Awesome In-call Volume, Great Fit

CONS: Low ringer volume

Almost a Year Old and Still my Favorite
I have a half helmet that I use for bumming around town, but any time I'm going to travel on a freeway, I like to have my full face protected. I've wanted a modular helmet for a long time and I knew that Built made some good ones with the metal-to-metal clasps. Since most of my freeway rides take more than an hour I enjoy listening to music, so the bluetooth option appealed to me. My first bluetooth enabled helmet was good enough for what I paid, but I had nothing to compare it to. When I was shopping for this helmet, I read reviews complaining that it was too noisy. I was a little concerned, but I bought it anyways. First time hooking it up, I loved it! The volume was significantly louder than my other helmet, the size was a bit small, but I took it into the store and exchanged it super easily, the charger connects over regular USB-B, which is awesome, and the noise... Hello! It's a modular helmet! It's not going to be as quiet as a regular full face! And honestly, it's not bad at all! I couldn't make calls from my old helmet traveling more than 20mph due to road noise. Music became unhearable over 60mph in my old helmet. The Techno is great! I can make calls at 50mph with very little strain. The boom microphone makes me easy to hear and the high volume makes it easy for me to hear callers. My music is still distinguishable at 80mph! There will always be road noise, there has to be, so the fact that the Techno works so well in spite of that fact is really an accomplishment!

PROS: Long Battery Life, Easy to use, Easy to charge, Good sound quality, Durable, Comfortable

BEST USES: Long distances, High Speeds, Phone calls, Listen to music

Meets All The Requirements
This seems to be a well built (no pun) helmet. Weighs about the same as other modulars I've owned (3 lb, 13 oz). Same bluetooth as the non-modular version. Syncs well and controlls all work well. The sound is great; however, I did have to adjust the speaker location (held in with velcro). Highly recommended step! Get them in the right place so sound is even and speaker angle is comfortable. Don't know about battery life; I'm still on my first charge (probably 3 hrs of music). The chin bar locks up very solidely. Face shild has four detents (not three like the non-modular techno) and the first open notch cracks the screen just right. Flip down tinted screen is in a good place, doesn't hit my glasses. Air ventilation is pretty good (i.e., you can actually feel it). No nose cup/breath deflector, but no fogging issue either. Also, the black plastic vents (at least on the silver version) look like they have copper dust mixed in the plastic. I guess you could call it "black perl". Drawbacks: The face shield fits inside the chin bar. It's also held on with screws. Screw slots look like they would accept a coin, hadn't tried to remove the shield. This also seems to cause more noise than other modular helmets I've owned. Not bad though. Also, not a big deal, but when you raise the chin bar fully, it closes the face shield. Not what I'm used to. All in all the helmet is pretty hard to beat.

PROS: Bluetooth works well, Looks good, Good Fit, Good air flow

CONS: Shield Removal Takes Tool, Wind Noise

Ours go to 11
I've only had for a day but I'm very impressed with this helmet, especially for the price (the inner shield is the bomb). Feature rich easy to use. The only thing I would add is volume controls on the helmet itself because when you're using it and on a motorcycle - moving - you've got to adjust the volume using the phone which is usually less than practical or safe. A clear inner shield option would be nice too.

Small Small small
I have a size 7.5 hat size, therefore my recommended helmet size is a large, however, I went into the store to try them on, and it turns out that even the 2 XL was too small for me. I love what this helmet is capable of doing and I really wanted it, plus it is currently 50% off but it's a bummer that they don't make 3 or 4 XL

PROS: Does everything, Half Off

CONS: small, Tiny

Good Bang for the Buck
Good Helmet at a great price, the sound quality is decent. When talking to someone over the phone at 70mph, they can (apparently) hear me excellently but its a little hard to hear them because unfortunately their is a lot of wind that gets in to the helmet around where the head phone pieces are. But it is well insulated where the microphone, therefor the person your talking gets little wind noise. I've yet to find out how well the biker to biker communication works as I haven't used it yet.

PROS: Good battery life, Listen to music, Good Looking, value

CONS: Fogs up

BEST USES: Long Trips, Every Day Rides

Bought helmet for myself and wife. Paint and finish of helmet was excellent. But overall Very disappointed. Bluetooth picked up spark plugs and constant background noise! Wife's helmet didn't fir and gave migraine. I'm taking back today and see how the store will handle. The store couldn't figure out how to pair helmets with bluetooth but i finally figured it out. Not a good experience for my first time at Cycle Gear. I'll let know if they redeem themselves...

PROS: Paint Finish Was Great, Shield And Sun Shield

CONS: Bluetooth Was Terrible

Can the bluetooth on this helmet pair up with sena 20S?
A shopper on May 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, that is what mine is paired with now.
I own BILT DWO4 Helmet. One problem I have been facing since the beginning is in its Bluetooth device. Neither it is turning off nor it is working. Also both the LED (Red and Blue is constant). I tried all possible ways but nothing to my satisfaction. How do I reset the device or bring it to use ?
A C on Sep 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I put mine in my lap while watching TV and had the instruction book too. I kept playing with it and got familiar with it. Even then I found that two of my control buttons were reverse of the instructions?? But it works for me and it made more sense for the larger button to answer and hangup.
How can you do a firmware update?
A C on Aug 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As far as I am aware, per the manual, firmware updates are only going to be available, if released, on the new DWO-5.
How do you turn it off?
A shopper on Aug 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You turn it on by pressing the button to the right of the volume knob for about 3 seconds. You turn it off by pressing the volume know and the on button at the same time for about 3 seconds.

I've owned this helmet for about 2 weeks and one of the speakers sounds like its going out already. Are there upgraded speakers that will work with the device that I can install. Something that has better frequency response, and cleaner clearer sound?
A C on Oct 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Still works
I just bought a 2016 CanAm RTS and I was wondering if their is anything else besides the helmet I need to buy for passenger to passenger communication?
James H on Jul 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Can't specifically speak to the Bilt brand, but my experience with other brand helmet bluetooth is that all you need it 2 units and they will pair with each other for rider to rider (or passenger) comms. This is with Sena and Chatterbox brand units.
