Good cold-weather pants, NOT waterproof
I've been wearing these daily for a couple of weeks now, and I was very impressed until yesterday. I got caught in some rain and thought to myself "No big deal, I have these great new waterproof pants". Big mistake. Most of the pant repelled water, but once they had soaked in pretty good, they got really bad. the zippers on the side leaked, past the gussets, and the side of my pants got wet. Worst of all, however was the crotch - totally worthless, as all the rain that ran down the tank and the front of my jacket went straight through the pants. I was soaked by the time I got to work, but luckily had another pair of jeans that I had left in my topcase a few days prior. Nothing like going commando an account of your "waterproof" pants.

If you just want some easy-in/easy-out armored overpants for cold weather riding, these are fantastic. If you want something to keep you dry in anything more than a drizzle, look elsewhere.

Giving a 3/5 because they do not work in the rain at all, but otherwise make for warm, comfy riding pants.

PROS: Comfortable, True to size, Well-insulated

CONS: Not waterproof

BEST USES: Light rain riding, Cold weather riding

Garbage - Not waterproof in the crotch
They seem to keep me warm, but they leak like a sieve in the crotch area. I was waterproof everywhere else, but I got to work and my entire crotch was soaked. I should have believed the other reviews.

PROS: Warm

CONS: Not Waterproof In Crotch

the perfect cold weather pants
I bought these pants along with the matching jacket for riding in the Smoky Mountains. I wore the pants along with Freeze Out thermos everyday and would be sweating by the time we reach the lodge everyday. That's with me riding in 28 degree weather everyday. the only con for me is that I would get a breeze up my leg if i ride with my foot on the hwy pegs.

PROS: Comfortable

Deluged in Portland
Great for getting around our wet and cool northwest weather. Quick and easy to get on and off over work pants. I used to just wear snowboarding pants, but the rain would eventually soak through during our wetter days and make my knees cold.

PROS: Breathable, Weather Resistant, Keeps Knees Dry And Warm, Comfortable, Well Insulated, Great Price, Abrasion Resistant

CONS: Just A Little Stiff

BEST USES: Safety, Street Riding, Bad Weather

Overall I'm happy with these pants. Very heavy and fairly bulky. Feel GREAT if you dont wear any layers underneath, which you can until about 35*F then you will want another layer in there.

PROS: Well Insulated, Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable

CONS: Heavy, Stiff

BEST USES: Bad Weather, Street Riding

best pants for the money
We get alot of rain here in Portland,Or and we average 35-45 degrees most of the winter. I am a daily rider and I think these are without a doubt the best pants for the money, I highly recommend them.

PROS: Well Insulated

Not really a storm waterproof
Very good for cold weather, the removable liner is also a good feature that allows one to use the pants all year.
Not very water proof, like others, when I got caught in rain, the crotch area soaked and I arrived at the destination looking like I peed on myself.
For dry weather it is very good.

PROS: Comfortable, Well Insulated

CONS: Heavy

Very Impressed
Riding back from Phoenix this past weekend, I ran into drizzle, rain, very hard rain, sleet, snow, cold and wind, and protected me from all with flying colors. I was overly surprised.

PROS: Weather Resistant, Stood Up To Snow And Cold, Well Insulated, Stood Up To Sleet, Stood Up To Rain

CONS: Heavy, Bulky When Walking, Stiff

BEST USES: Bad Weather, When Cold And Wet, Safety

Decent pants for the price
Overall these are good overpants. Easy to get on and off over carhartt bibs. I did have all three zippers fail over the span of a year, though. I wore them every single workday for that year and a half.
Took them back to the store and they replaced them with no hassle at all. The replacement pair seem to be holding up well so far.
I am happy with them, and even more happy with cyclegear's no hassle replacement policy.

PROS: Weather Resistant, Abrasion Resistant, Very Reasonable Price, Comfortable

CONS: Weak Zippers

BEST USES: Riding In The Rain, Bad Weather, Safety

waterproof results: FAIL
I am an all weather/all season rider. I was looking for pants that I could easily put on, keep warm, and not have to worry about getting wet.

I purchased these pants on Sunday, and did a test run in the rain today. Unfortunately I had a leak by the zipper next to the knee (I may not have secured it correctly). The major complaint was in the crotch. There is no way to 'mess up' how you zip up this area and unfortunately I came walking into work with a big patch of wetness in my crotch.

I am going to the store today after work...it is still raining and I will show them the results of this waterproof pant.

PROS: Insulation sufficient, Easy to put on, Sturdy

CONS: Not waterproof

Do these run true to size? I wear a 36 and was wondering if I should buy a size or 2 bigger to fit over my levis Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Yes they do but it depends on what you wear underneath. I added hip pads and needed to go up one size as I don't want to feel my movement restricted.
