Ducati's very excited about its new limited-edition Superleggera V4, but among the steady stream of promotional materials, I thought the most interesting piece was this video of the first of the 500 being assembled.
The video is certainly a reminder of the complexity of modern, high performance motorcycles, and that doesn't even include the complexity of electronic hardware and software that you can't even really see. (It warps my mind a little to think that this machine and the eight-horsepower Suzuki GN125 sitting in a corner of my garage both belong to the same category of things called motorcycles.)
In case you somehow missed the details in Ducati's promotional burst, the Superleggera is the first road-going motorcycle to have a frame, swingarm, wheels and bodywork all made of carbon fiber for light weight. The essential numbers: 224 horsepower in as-delivered form (there's a race kit), 350 pounds dry and $100,000 price.
