How's your Thanksgiving Day going, Common Tread readers? If you're checking in here because you've fled to another room to escape the political "discussion" between your Uncle Charlie and your niece Clarice, here's a video to provide half an hour of diversion.
I'm not usually a fan of the "we went into this kind of clueless" approach to motorcycle adventure filmmaking, especially when it comes across as a device to try to increase tension. There's a bit of that in this video. But Jess and Andy, the two young people who take on this journey in Nepal, which is intended to be the first of a series, end up in a spot I can understand and respect: that any trip to some place that's new and foreign to you — and especially a motorcycle trip, which puts you out there — will make you a changed person when you come back home, if you leave yourself open to the experience.
If nothing else, the white-knuckle rides on narrow, rock-strewn dirt roads that are no more than ledges carved into the massive mountains are worth a view. Let's see where they go next.
