Ultra-limited: Triumph's Speed Twin TFC and Royal Enfield’s 1-of-100 Shotgun 650

That's because a month doesn’t go by without one manufacturer or another unveiling some limited-edition this or exclusive that. This month’s offerings comes to us from Triumph and Royal Enfield.

Speed Twinning

Introduced in 2019, the Triumph Factory Custom (TFC) program lavishes premium components and finishes on select Triumph models. The Thruxton, Rocket 3, and Bobber have all undergone the TFC treatment, and this year, it’s the Speed Twin’s turn. The bike’s parallel twin remains in the starring role, but it's the supporting cast that makes all the difference here. 

Topping that list are clip-on handlebars and fully adjustable Öhlins front and rear suspension, which draw the TFC in line with the Speed Twin RS’s performance aspirations. Akrapovič silencers and carbon fiber bodywork (mudguards and side panels) not only lean into that sporty nature but also provide a luxe touch. Meanwhile, a leather and suede bench seat takes the subtle approach to extravagance. 

However, it's the Obsidian Gold paint scheme that steals the show with its deep, black base and marble-esque gold highlights. Providing additional accents are gold fork lowers and a gold chain. As special editions go, the Speed Twin’s top yoke bears TFC and edition number emblems. Of course, a certificate of authenticity accompanies each example. There aren’t many, though. 

With just 750 Speed Twin TFCs available worldwide, Triumph will ship 180 units to the United States and 30 to Canada. And yet, those numbers seem abundant when compared to Royal Enfield’s limited-edition Shotgun 650.

At EICMA 2025, Royal Enfield showcased the Caliber Royale, a custom Shotgun 650 built by Rough Crafts (a.k.a. Winston Yeh). Like many of the Taiwanese builder’s projects, Caliber Royale resonated with the RE audience. Unfortunately, producing a one-to-one factory custom wasn't in the cards, but Enfield did the next best thing with the Rough Crafts x Shotgun 650.

Inspired by the EICMA build, the special-edition Shotgun doesn’t take on the Caliber Royale’s shape, stance, or styling, but hey, it nailed the black and gold paint. Peer closer, and fine details like the gold-leaf pinstripe and brass collaboration tank badge become much more prominent. 

Although the limited variant goes mechanically unchanged, bar-end mirrors, gold fork tubes, a quilted leather seat, and contrast-cut alloy rims elevate it over the standard Shotgun. Owners can also bank on a numbered sketch of the Caliber Royale designed and signed by Yeh. At the same time, those owners will be quite few in number.

Royal Enfield will only produce 100 units of the Rough Crafts x Shotgun 650 worldwide, with just 10 reserved for U.S. customers and a measly two bikes going to Canada. Those meager supplies will be available for pre-order at 10 a.m. (ET) on July 28. 

If you’re not one of the lucky customers to secure a Rough Crafts x Shotgun 650, look on the bright side; odds are another special-edition motorcycle will come along in another month or so.
