India has likely just surpassed China to become the world's most populous country, but it was already the biggest motorcycle market in the world. For those of us in the United States, it's a whole nother world (as Zack might say) over there on the other side of the world, so in this episode of Highside/Lowside, Zack and Spurgeon get some insight from a local expert.
This episode's guest is popular YouTube channel host Sagar Sheldekar. You may know some of the eye-opening stats about the motorcycle market in India — such as the fact that more than three times as many new motorcycles are sold each month in India than are sold in the United States in an entire year — but Sheldekar goes beyond the numbers to tell us what life's like for riders in India. Millions of people are getting around on 150 cc and smaller motorcycles, but Sheldekar also points out that many of them dream of taking a motorcycle trip to the Himalayans or some other adventure, so they're often more focused on their machines' capabilities than on how good it looks on Instagram, as many riders do here.
We also see just how committed Sheldekar is when we find out the lengths he'll go to to do a track day in a huge country with just two race tracks. Learn about motorcycling half a world away in the latest episode of Highside/Lowside.
