Motorcycles may be ignored or invisible on the street, but in movies, you can't miss 'em.
Whether in a starring role, or just a facet of a side character, bikes on screen demand attention. They're usually extensions of an on-screen personality, adding depth and nuance just by sitting on the set. Even if you don't ride a motorcycle, or spend all your working hours studying them, motorcycles are effective visual shorthand for all kinds of archetypes: the bad hombre, the lone rider, the daredevil, the rebel, or the adventurer, just to name a few. Some of these motorcycles are responsible for kickstarting the desire to ride in countless motorcyclists, and every generation in the age of film has its two-wheeled heroes, from Brando and Bond to Trinity and Kaneda.
In this episode of Highside/Lowside, Zack and Spurg are joined by Spenser Robert, the man behind the camera for Zack and Ari's adventures, and a film buff in his own right. Together, the guys explore the highlights (and lowlights) of motorcycles of the screen. Deep cuts, hot takes, and two scoops of nostalgia make this episode movie-length itself! The HS/LS crew also covers recent news and answers reader questions.
