Welcome to News Cycles, Common Tread’s roundup of what’s happening on our servers and everywhere else. Every Friday, look for a collection of news, stories, and all things moto from around the web. This week: prerunners, the Baja 1000, and of course, turkeys.
Meet the riders who clear the way for bicycle racers
The BIKE Transalp is a legendary bicycle race across, you guessed it, the Alps. The race wouldn't be possible without the help of some dedicated prerunners, who saddle up for the unique challenge of completing the course on motorcycles as quickly as possible to make sure it's all clear for the racers.

Team SLR Honda leads every section of Baja 1000, takes overall win
At the 51st running of the Baja 1000, a Honda CRF450X campaigned by Justin Morgan took first place for bikes and overall, leading the trophy trucks by just 37 seconds. Hondas have traditionally done well at Baja, but it’s not every year they beat the trucks.

Motorcycle racer Shelina Moreda saves animals from California fires
Californians aren't the only ones that need to escape the fires ravaging the state. Animals also need to be evacuated, but without a plan, that's not going to happen. Enter Shelina Moreda, an accomplished motorcycle racer, CoverGirl, and animal lover. Her efforts saved livestock and livelihoods, and that's just what she does in the off-season!
“World-First Fully 3D Printed e-Motorcycle”
We’ve seen 3D printed parts for motorcycles, but the NERA electric motorcycle claims to be the first motorcycle completely made using additive manufacturing. That’s an impressive claim, but unfortunately the bike looks very unstable. They printed their own “tires” too, so I’ll forgive some of the wobble. Here’s hoping we’ll see much more rideable projects in the future.
