Welcome to this week's News Cycles, Common Tread’s roundup of what’s happening on our servers and everywhere else. Every Friday, look for a collection of news, stories, and all things moto from around the web. This week: overhauling a two-smoker, liter bikes, and 3D printing metal.

Resurrecting a Honda CR250R
Dirt Bike Magazine took a bike as old as Javascript and transformed it into a modernized ripper with nostalgic roots. Highlights include hidden crankcase holes, multiple rebuilds, and plenty of welding.
Found on Reddit’s r/motorcycles community, a rider used the Samsung Gear smartwatch’s heart rate monitor to record both a first motorcycle purchase and a first road riding experience. I’m pretty sure I was pushing 150 bpm when I bought my first bike, too.
Earlier this week, we saw some good conversation in the comments section of my motorcycle apps article. A new project from Kickstarter vets Beeline offers a new kind of moto-navigation, which might be for you if sticking a phone on your handlebars isn’t ideal.

KTM 790 Adventure spotted testing in Sardinia
With the upcoming release of the 790 Duke, ADV riders are wondering what else KTM’ll do with that punchy new twin engine. In a surprise move, KTM let riders try them out at the recent European Adventure Rally. KTM, Spurgeon awaits your call.

Hand tools: Unsung heroes of the shop
Lemmy shows some appreciation for all the good things that keep our bikes running, but don’t need an outlet to be useful. If you maintain your own motorcycle, give it a look.
“It’s shameful we live in a time when people create fake quotes. There’s one attributed to me on Twitter. I have not, nor would I ever speak about the President of the United States or anyone else in that way.”

Matt Levatich denounced a fake tweet created in his name earlier this week, which came at an… inopportune time as Harley navigates its position in the midst of a trade war.

KTM 3D printing exhausts
By using 3D modeling and printing technology, KTM’s R&D department can churn out complex two-stroke head pipes “twice as quick and ten times more accurate than it was in the past,” says Michael Viertlmayr, Head of Engine Offroad & Motocross R&D. Draw up the needed part using CAD, print it, weld up the sections, and bolt ‘er up.
