Jason Anderson clinches SX1 World Supercross Championship

Dec 17, 2025

Congratulations to Cycle Gear-sponsored rider Jason Anderson and the Pipes Motorsports Group team for winning the 2025 FIM SX1 World Supercross Championship in dramatic fashion at the final round in Cape Town, South Africa, by sweeping all three SX1 main events.

It was the first year in the relatively new World Supercross Championship for Anderson, who was the 2018 AMA Monster Energy Supercross champion. It was also Anderson's first time racing the Suzuki RM-Z450. But after a mid-season setback, Anderson entered the final round in South Africa tied for the lead with Joey Savatgy and sealed the deal with his perfect 1-1-1 evening.

"The weekend was pretty dang crazy," Anderson said after hoisting his new trophy. "I knew coming into it that it was going to be a winner-take-all situation. The first two mains were solid battles, and I was able to go 1-1. That last race between me and Joey was a brawl, but I was able to get the championship and bring it home."

Anderson's comeback in the five-race world championship series was clearly the highlight for the Cycle Gear-backed team, but additional reason for celebration in South Africa was his teammate Colt Nichols' podium finish.

"Fantastic night for the team," said Mark Johnson of REP Suspension. "It was a double podium for us. I’m super proud of Jason — that last race was a real battle, and he came out on top to clinch the title. Colt getting on the podium was huge, and we're extremely stoked about that."
