Maybe you only ride on the street, turning back when the pavement ends. Or maybe you only ride in the dirt, never venturing where a phone-distracted driver could rear-end you. But would you be a better rider if you did more than one kind of riding?
It's a topic we've explored before here at Common Tread, and beyond just the two extremes of dirt-only or street-only riding. What if you try a supermoto on a kart track, or even trials? In this episode of the Highside/Lowside motorcycle podcast, Spurgeon and Zack are joined by Chris Northover, of Bike World TV show, who admits up front that he had the good fortune to grow up in a family where everyone rode motorcycles, so he's spent his life on two wheels. He went on to get an engineering degree, worked at Triumph for a few years, and then moved into a testing role for a magazine followed by creating videos for the Bike World YouTube channel. As a result, he's ridden everything from trials to chasing Zack around a track as they both tested Ducati Panigale V2s earlier this year.
All that makes him something of an authority on the benefits of cross-training on different kinds of motorcycles. Listen in to the conversation, plus a T-shirt giveaway, the engine sound guessing game, and more, in the latest Highside/Lowside.
