There is currently exactly one racer from the United States competing in the premier classes of the Superbike and MotoGP world championships, and that's Garrett Gerloff. But despite that uniqueness, Gerloff is a motorcycle nut like most Highside/Lowside listeners, a rider who can find joy on a sport-touring bike or even a scooter, not just on his 200 mph Kawasaki ZX-10RR Superbike.
Spurgeon and Zack talk with Gerloff about his childhood start in motocross before his rapid pivot to roadracing starting at age 12. But because this is the final Highside/Lowside episode of season 10, the hosts also revisit topics from this year's previous episodes. So we get Gerloff's take on the Isle of Man TT (would he dare race there?), what destination would be his dream motorcycle ride, and, following up the podcast that interviewed MotoAmerica racer Kayla Yaakov, does he think he'll see a woman win a World Superbike championship in his lifetime?
Gerloff also talks about the one time he got stopped by the police on a motorcycle on the street and the one time he had an embarrassing crash on the street on his scooter. You don't have to be a racing fan to enjoy this conversation with one of the world's best roadracers, and one of very few from the United States competing at the world championship level.
