GoPro video series: James Stewart opens up

Dec 28, 2016

Just in time to get you ready for the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross season, GoPro has released the second episode in its "Driven" series. The subject: James Stewart.

Stewart talks about how his father started him on a Yamaha PW50, tells of the hollow feeling of the success of his perfect motocross season when he won every moto, and shows his frustration over his suspension from the sport for using prescribed Adderall.

If you want to get a taste for the GoPro series before committing to the 15-minute video on Stewart, here's the trailer.

The subjects of the other episodes, in addition to Stewart, are rally driver Ken Block (in episode one, which is already out), NASCAR racer Joey Logano, snowmobiler Chris Burandt and motocrosser Tarah Geiger. I'm probably in the tiny minority in this, but the one I'm most looking forward to is the episode on Tarah Geiger. Part of that's personal (she's the only pro motocrosser from my former home of Puerto Rico). But also because we have two car guys (meh, already overexposed), a snowmobile rider (too cold) and Stewart, who's a fascinating character but not exactly someone who hasn't had his time in the spotlight.

Like other GoPro original productions, the "Driven" series episodes provide the ride-along footage and thrills you expect from the action-camera leader, along with professional production and interesting interviews.

Common Tread will be back next week with a Supercross season preview, but meanwhile, the Stewart episode is a great way to get ready for the gate drop at Anaheim One.
