$31,995 will get you behind the handlebar of Ducati’s most exclusive power cruiser yet, the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini.
Ducati and Lamborghini both hail from the same region of Italy (their factories are just 12.5 miles apart!) called Motor Valley, and they’re also corporately related as part of the Volkswagen Group. While rumors are swirling once again that VW is prepared to spin off their Ducati and Lamborghini holdings, the two Italian marques seem to be getting along just fine with this recent collaboration.
The team chose to build a Diavel homage to Lamborghini’s Sián FKP 37, a $2 million supercar and Lamborghini's first hybrid. It packs over 800 horsepower and a top speed in excess of 217 miles per hour. The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini doesn't share those performance numbers, but instead references the Sián’s wheels, Y motif, “63” number graphic, and Gea Green/Electrum Gold paint. It's the same stuff Lambo uses, so don’t let your jacket zipper scuff the tank. An entirely new set of carbon bodywork was developed for this limited-production bike, including a belly pan with a NACA duct. There’s even a matching helmet. (Looks like an Arai Ram-X to me. I’m not sure why they went with a three-quarter helmet here.)
The Testastretta DVT engine itself appears to be in the same tune as the standard Diavel, and it most definitely does not have the Sián FKP 37’s electric boost. The 485-pound dry weight is the same as the standard Diavel’s.
The number that that makes this Ducati special is not on the spec sheet. It's 630. That's how many units Ducati plans to build, so contact your dealer if you’d like a bike and helmet to match that Sián FKP 37 in the garage.
Fancy parts, nice paint, a prestigious collaboration, and limited production are a tried-and-true recipe for instant collectors’ pieces. Suppose you wanted a little more Lambo, particularly in the engine department? Editor Lance reminded me of an older Common Tread story featuring such a vehicle, complete with an actual Lamborghini V-12. You can find it here if you’re in the mood for very strange motorcycles.
