Dates announced for 2021 Progressive IMS Outdoors motorcycle festivals

The reimagined series will visit nine locations around the United States from June to October. I've already gone on record as saying that this move has the potential to be a big improvement over the old IMS shows. On one hand, in the northern half of the country it was nice to have a motorcycle activity to look forward to during winter, but the downside was that the concept of going to a huge convention center and looking at — maybe sitting on — parked new motorcycles was getting stale. And of course in the time of a pandemic, that concept was a non-starter.

IMS Outdoors promises to broaden its scope and give visitors more chances to do demo rides, not just on motorcycles but also other products riders might be interested in, such as recreational vehicles, side-by-sides, electric bicycles, electric scooters and others. The events will also take on more of a festival air, with musical performances and appearances by local artisans.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, plans for the AIMExpo have changed yet again. The expo, which used to combine a couple of industry-only days and a weekend consumer-focused portion was rescheduled for January, 2021, and restructured as an industry-only event. Now, the format has changed again and it will be a virtual event instead of an in-person gathering at the Columbus Convention Center in Ohio, as previously planned.

Ticket sales for the Progressive IMS Outdoors shows begin April 19 at motorcycleshows.com. Here's the schedule for 2021:
