Another barrier has fallen and it should not pass unnoted: Ana Carrasco Gabarrón became the first woman to win a world championship motorcycle race this past weekend.
Carrasco took the win in the World Supersport 300 class with a perfectly timed draft pass to the finish line on her Kawasaki Ninja 300, with the three top riders crossing the finish line separated by just 0.062 seconds.

The 20-year-old rider previously raced in Moto3 without a great deal of success, but this year switched to the World Supersport 300 class, the newest production-based series under the Superbike World Championship.
Women have won races in national-level series before. María Herrera, currently competing in Moto3, won in the Spanish CEV Repsol series. Elena Myers won two AMA Supersport races in the United States. Jenny Tinmouth won a Supersport race in the British series and became the first woman to race a Superbike in WSBK.
Looking beyond roadracing, Shayna Texter is the most obviously successful woman motorcycle racer right now, with four wins in the American Flat Track Singles class this season.
There's just something about those 25 world championship points for a single day's work, though, that nothing else matches.
