EICMA: 2015 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto

The 701 Supermoto is basically a KTM 690 SMC R in Husky's colors, though I can't say that's a bad thing. Husqvarna seems to be making a pretty serious attempt to turn the company into a real brand, and starting with a few re-purposed Katooms isn't a terrible way to build your performance reputation — though it will be interesting to see what their first original motorcycles are like.

The 701 Supermoto will make 67 horsepower and have a wet weight of 340 pounds. It will come with a slipper clutch, ABS, ride-by-wire throttle with varied fuel maps, and share the KTM's WP suspension.

Fuel capacity is increased by a half gallon over the KTM, for a max capacity of 3.7 gallons.

I love what Husky has been doing in the styling department, and I think they nailed it with this 701 Supermoto. Not too dirt or too street looking, it's perfect for letting people know just how insane you are as you wheelie past.

If my conversion skills are close, I'd expect the 701 Supermoto to have an MSRP in the $12,500 region. Husqvarna says it will be released in the summer of 2015.
