Stockton Mini Chain Link Press Tool

  • Presses the side plates of the master link together
  • Presses on chain side plates
  • Works great on all "O-Ring" type sealed chains
  • Only for use on clip-style master links - not designed to press rivets for rivet-style master links
  • Fits all 420-630 size chains

Works Great!
Works just fine on clip type links. Specifically NOT for press rivets for rivet-style master links like the other reviewer was trying to use it for. Small and fits in my tool bag with a spare master link and clip.

a tool to ease the chain pain...
The Honda dealer wanted to charge me $150 for the same exact tool. I called spoke to the owner and found out it was only $20 tops! She set it aside for me and even tho the 1st one I bought was bent I was able to exchange it hassle free. I love this store and will never go to a dealership for tools again!

PROS: Easy to use, Inexpensive, Compact

CONS: No included instructions

After hours of wasting time I learned on my own that this chain press is less than what is needed for a rivet link. There is a head needed to mushroom the rivets that is not included. This is just to PRESS a link not install a chain and even then it does not press a rivet link properly. I tried with my rivet master link, and had a hard time getting enough force to press the links to spec, then instead of pressing the links through the new plate it pushed them out the back. So I had to install a clip master to ride to the shop and buy the right tool. Just save yourself the hassle unless you have a dirtbike with clip chains or supermoto then this tool is for you but big bikes will require something more appropriate. FYI my level of mechanical experience is rebuilding entire engines for thumpers, but this is the first rivet chain I've ever installed.

What is the center bolt for?
A shopper on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The center bold is to force the pin thru the chain. The outer bolt is to hold the chain and should be only minimally tightened.
