Shoei SRL Bluetooth Headset For Neotec 2 By Sena

The Sena SRL for Shoei Neotec 2 is a drop in Bluetooth solution for the Shoei Neotec 2 Helmet. Instead of using an external housing that clamps to the side of the helmet, the SRL encloses its electronics in a module that fits within the neckroll of the Neotec 2. Most commands are navigated via voice prompt or the three button interface that lives on the lower left side of the helmet. The SRL features advanced noise cancellation technology and operates on the Bluetooth 4.1 platform for efficient battery use and crystal clear audio. An exclusive smartphone app for iPhone and Android allows for easy setup and the firmware is perpetually upgradeable. With a paired smartphone you can easily toggle between phone, GPS navigation and music.

Best Bluetooth I have used
I have used the Sena 2.0 and the Nolan N-Com system and the SRL is, by far, the best one I have ever used. Install was a little bit of a hassle, but it fits seamlessly into the helmet with no protrusions. Even the N-com wasn't as seamless. The sound quality is phenomenal, Too bad HD had to go proprietary with their wireless headset interface module(WHIM), or I would be one happy camper!

first bt helmet set
Coming from a Kawasaki premium audio system driving jm corp premium headset the sena srl sounds much weaker as far as music quality. no adjustments for bass or treble. Playing music from my iphone sounds pretty good but when I use the fm radio on the sena unit it is very poor. No bass at all and the midrange is so strong it hurts my ears. I hope that firmware updates will improve the system.

Our only option is worth it
Since Sena took so very long to deliver on their specific headset, I was hoping it the result would be match for the superior lid for which it was designed. I am baffled why the sound quality for all sound sources are not the same, and at first I gave this a much lower rating as my SiriusXM would crackle with poor audio range. However, the sound was excellent when playing my iPhone though my BMW R1200RTW's audio system. I'm not sure where the problem lies, but I don't believe it is the Sena SRL. I did have to ensure I would not over modulate the sound input, but was extremely pleased with the results. I am not sure the durability or quality of the material of the SRL is, as I've only had it for a few weeks. I am frustrated with the ease of use. The external controls on the helmet are very difficult to use while wearing gloves. Yes, I wear gloves in hot weather riding. I'm sure that without gloves it would be very easy. As it is, it is better to stop riding, remove my gloves, then adjust the volume, rather than try while on the road. I've easily turned the entire SRL system off, then couldn't get it to work correctly without stopping, taking off my gloves, then setting it as I prefer, then put my gloves back on, and resuming my journey. After months of waiting, I am very pleased with the SRL. Over time I expect to be able to change the volume without turning the system off (or change other settings).
