When it comes to moto camping, every solo rider should purchase a 2-Person tent. There's more room within to get in and out of your riding gear and there's more floor space for stowing your gear while sleeping. The weight and volume penalties are virtually non-existent between 1 and 2-person setups. This kit is designed around getting a single rider out on their bike and camping comfortably. It doesn't have a crazy small packing density or an excessively large pack size, it's average.

The Radama Hub 2 Tent packs down to a small 21 inches long with a diameter of 6 inches. Its 88 inch by 53 inch footprint allows you to stash your helmet, gear and some luggage inside your tent, while storing your boots safely under the tent's outer vestibule. At a height of nearly 44 inches, you'll be able to change in and out of moto gear without feeling too cramped for space. A ground sheet is included with this kit to allow a Fast Flight mode where the tent can be setup with only the rain fly and a footprint. This is great for using the tent for shade at a beach, festival or track day as it's just a domed shelter without the mesh enclosure to climb through.

The Peregrine Saker II Sleeping Bag has a ripstop nylon shell that is DWR treated to keep moisture out and trap warmth in. A soft nylon liner will keep you comfortable in a wide range of conditions and the continuous fiber Perefill insulation is durable, compressible, and stays warm in extreme environments. The Saker II sleeping bag features a small chest pocket for snacks or electronics, durable #5 YKK zippers with an anti-snag zipper taping and an ergonomic articulated foot box.

For moto camping, it's hard to beat the Aerie Ultra Light PrimaLoft Air Pad. It packs down to a stuff-anywhere size of 11" x 4" and the insulation and elevation it provides keeps the ground from robbing your body heat. The internal I-beam construction helps the pad maintain its structure even as you roll around on its 2.5 inch PrimaLoft stuffed air cushion. "Bumper" side baffles help keep the restless on-board at night. An Aorta Two Valve inflation system ensures easy inflation and even easier deflation once your rested and ready to go.

Last but not least is a large Peregrine Pro Stretch Pillow. Yes, you could ball up some of your moto gear and stuff it under your sleeping bag, but this pillow packs down to less than 3 liters and its synthetic fill feels like a traditional pillow.

This kit is designed around one rider, but the tent can support two riders as long as they're quite fond of each other.

Total Packed Volume:

  • 26 liters

Individual Packed Dimensions:

  • Tent: 6" W X 21" L (9.7 liters) packed, 5lbs 6.5oz weight
  • Sleeping bag: 14" L x 7.6" W (10.4 liters) packed, 2lbs 7oz weight
  • Sleeping pad: 11" L x 4" W (2.3 liters) packed, 1lbs 1oz weight
  • Pillow: 12" L x 4.25" (2.8 liters) packed, 10oz weight

Packing Notes:

A combined volume of 26 liters is best stowed in a large dry bag. The 21" length dimension generally prevents the tent from squeezing into a saddlebag, but a large dry bag can usually be run across the tail of most mid-sized bikes, or vertically when strapped to a sissy bar. One trick is to store your tent poles independently from the rest of your tent. Running tent poles diagonally within a bag allows you to then morph the tent's proportions to suit your needs; you'll no longer be confined to a 21" length dimension. Giving yourself a few extra liters of luggage capacity can make the difference between advanced Tetris packing versus tossing stuff in. A larger dry bag is best for carrying the contents of this kit, plus extra road trip essentials.

Recommended Dry Bags:

  • Oxford Aqua T50 Roll Bag
  • Giant Loop Tillamook Dry Bag
  • REAX Poseidon Dry Bag, 40L
  • Enduristan Tornado Pack Sack, size LG

Note: Drybags sold separately.
