All That Glitters is not Gold
This windscreen is a good reason not to be buying stuff that is not OEM for your bike, unless you know from experience or the experiences shared by others who have trusted that after market dealer and have had good and positive things to say about them and their products. Now that is not to lay blame on the dealership, I have gotten a lot of good products from Cycle Gear and I will continue to be a loyal customer. So, how can one know how one product from another will be accepted by the general public and just how well will that product suit the needs of those individuals? Personally I would not market anything that I have not personally tried and tested and found to be of reasonable quality and design but enough of that. The Puig windscreen material wise seems to be of good quality though the mounts for the windscreen to mount to the bike, in my case a 2017 Triumph Street Twin, leave much to be desired, flimsy at best and the instruction sheet for installing the screen is not in English but luckily looking at the image of the screen on the bike makes it pretty much intuitive. The screen installed easily enough, no use to getting into the details of installation and I took the bike out for a test ride with my new screen. Needless to say I was disappointed at I watched the screen twist and bounce around in the wind as I was cruising along at 55 to 60 mph. Turning around and heading back home before the twisting and bouncing caused a crack in the screen, I took the two black, round, shock absorbers from the plastic bag which every other screw, nut, etc. came in and affixed one (1) to the screen where it would butt up snuggly against the speedometer to dampen the vibration and retightened the headlight mounting bolts to which the screen attaches. Back out and about I was pleased to see the vibration had pretty much all but ceased leaving what I would consider to be normal vibration and movement as I traveled along. Without the shock absorbers, the screen might would not last very long before it cracked, breaking loose from the headlight mounts and find itself being blown to the side of the road somewhere.

So, is the Puig windscreen worth the $104.00 I paid for it? That remains to be seen a year or two maybe down the road, however, it is quite functional, does exactly what it is supposed to do and looks great on my Street Twin, I do love it, so not all is lost in my review. The thing is, the screen could have been designed with a more sturdy mount but using the one shock absorber, at least I think that is what they are, it made a vast improvement to the fit. All in all, not bad if you are not as picky as me. Oh, and learn a second language so you will be ready for those instructions. Not really sure of what country they came from though.
Peace . . .
