Street & Steel Freebird Mesh Jacket
A close link mesh outer shell, removable Vault CE armor, and a removable hoody will have you singing Lynyrd all the way to Sturgis. The Freebird jacket is where it's at.
- Close link mesh outer shell
- Removable vault CE shoulder, elbow and spine pad
- Removable hoody liner that can be worn separately
- Loop'd pant attachment system
- Reflective stripe
I had this jacket for 2 weeks before I was in an accident. The jacket did not survive and was cut off of me by paramedics. I plan to get another ASAP.
Pros: Good style (opinion), good fit, comfortable and works in a wide variety of temperatures. I've ridden in 60-85 degree weather without much of a problem. The removable liner is a nice touch, too!
Cons: Sleeveless removable liner. I don't know why they wouldn't have full zip out sweatshirt instead of a sleeveless one. Also, the arms are in a major need of having a way to tighten them. They are very loose fitting and the armor flaps around like an old, fat womens under arms. They really should have added a few straps to cinch them down. My final gripe about this jacket is the hand warmer zippers. You zip them down to open them. I've always been against this because a zipper can work its way down during a ride, but never up. They should have been reversed, but this is one of my pet peeves, I just use the napoleon pocket or the breast pockets if I need to carry something on the jacket while I ride.
Overall, this seems like a good jacket for the money and I would buy it again.

It felt super comfortable, and it was true to its size. Everything was perfect except for the arm sleeves of the jacket. It has warmth quality throughout the main torso of the jacket, but its sleeves were lacking the same material (on the inside) as the rest of the jacket. So after riding about 45 mph, my arms started to freeze. The breeze went straight through the forearm/elbow part of the jacket. It didn't sneak through the wrists which was nice.
Thats the only thing that set it back for me. It would be a great jacket for spring and fall, but not winter in my opinion. (FYI, I am an Arizonian so my temp threshold could be different than yours)
