Stretch and recovery for a comfortable fit without binding
I wore these for a January ride and they kept me warm. I'm 5'9", 150lbs with 42" hips and got a size large. They fit snugly, so for those who are larger, you may want to look at the men's Freeze-Out pants so that you will be comfortable. The pants are made of polar fleece, and some areas have a windbreaker like material over it. It did block the wind. The windbreaker material is like a non stretch nylon, so the pants don't stretch a whole lot. It was a little tight across my knees when sitting on the bike. They have stirrups on the bottom to keep them from riding up. They were plenty long enough which was surprising, even when sitting down. I put these on first, then jeans, then riding pants, or if extremely cold, my ski pants.
PROS: Nice And Long Length, Blocks wind, High waisted
We bought these to do more winter riding. (We also go the men's version.) I was very surprised that these are so thick. They have very bulky and textured thickness similar to FrogTogs but fitted, and that bulk makes them not fit under jeans like a regular pair of longjohns. They are however perfect for what they say they will do, and that is keep you warm!! So, if you wear you jeans skin tight, be prepared that these are not smooth fitting. But again, they definitely keep you warm!!
I just wore these for the first time. So comfortable, kept me warm. I wore only jeans over top it is about 37 degrees outside. Can't wait to wear them when it is below freezing under my winter riding pants. They are high waisted which is great since my motorcycle jacket is around hip level. I wish I had gotten them years ago! I LOVE them!
In the past I wore just cotton long johns, these are far more superior. They stop the wind and are breathable.
last weekend my wife and I went for a motorcycle ride (HD Roadking) through the N.E. Ga. mountains to see the fall colors, the weather was beautiful and 43 degrees. I had on my freeze out top and long johns and I was warm and enjoyed the ride. I purchased these for my wife(Christmas)so she can enjoy the cold with me.
These long johns are made of a heavy fleece and are very comfortable. The papery windproof panels are on the outside, so I don't notice them after I put the long johns on. I have worn them sledding, camping, dog walking, and motorcycling, just like regular long johns. Unfortunately the build quality is not great. After a couple months of normal use, some of the stitching is coming undone already.
