Bilt Jacket review
First off I have owned very nice Alpinestar and Joe Rocket leather jackets in the past that being said here we go. I was going to hold out for a more expensive jacket again but 1.) My budget didn't allow and 2.) I actually highly preferred the fit and feel of this jacket over the more expensive Alpinestare and Dainese. (Note: I am not saying this is as good of a jacket as either of those)
The jacket fits perfect as perfect can be, has a zipper for pant's as well as a removable liner, inside pocket, cell phone pouch, removable pads ect. So it's easy to see its loaded with features for a jacket this price.
Next topic quality.
The leather is nice not as thick as the Alpinestar or Dainese's but still nice none the less. Shoulder pads are there however not the best either as well as the mail zipper isn't as beefy as I would like.

Bottom Line: Even after owning higher quality leathers I don't regret buying this jacket at all I'm actually quite fawned of it after all because it feels so nice and looks good. I think this jacket definitely has a place and I believe it's for those who don't want to fork out the BIG bucks on a jacket to ride on the streets. This is by far better than not having a jacket and I feel it does just fine and leaves me confident on the street riding pretty aggressive at times. However If you plan on spending time on the track more than a couple times a yr I'd recommend a higher end jacket.

PROS: Comfort, Fit, Amount of features, Bang for the Buck

CONS: Not top of the line, Cheap Zipper

Great buy for the money
So far I am very pleased with my Bilt Trackstar. I have tried on dozens of jackets and and the Bilt size 38 was by far the best. It is difficult to find a skin hugging jacket for a smaller man like myself, even in 38. I am a bit concerned about rubbing around the neck which has left me a bit chafed. I'm hoping with more use the leather will become relaxed and it will no longer be an issue. The Bilt Trackstar is competitive with jackets twice the price. If you don't mind wearing a house brand (like myself) then it is the best value for the money.

PROS: Wonderful fit, Well Ventilated, Great protection, Attractive design

CONS: Torso a bit short, Cheap velcro on the cuffs, Tight around the neck

BEST USES: Canyon carving, Warm weather, The occasional track day

Great product!
This is great gear for touring or sport riding on the street. It's perfect for cool weather with the liner in and a light sweatshirt underneath, and for warm to hot weather without the liner. I wouldn't wear this for serious track riding as the armor is not quite heavy enough to suit me for high-speed crash protection.

PROS: Stylish, Comfortable, Well-made

CONS: Light armor

BEST USES: Touring, Sport riding

First Riding Jacket
I just recently bought a EX500R and needed some new riding gear. We have a cycle gear retailer here in SC so i went to check out their inventory. After trying on nearly every jacket in the store, i was most impressed with the fit of this jacket. The CE armor is in just the right places, doesn't slide around, and looks great. It even has a slot in the back area to add armor.

Cons: The velcro tabs at the cuffs and collar seem a bit cheesy. Though the jacket fits well, it's shorter in the torso than i would prefer.

Pros: Price. There are better jackets, but you have to fork over that hard earned (and hard to come bay) money. The quality you get for this price can't be beat IMO. The collar and cuffs have a soft, flexible material that is very comfy. The leather in the front and back are perforated so air flow on the move is great. I've worn it in 90 degree weather with minimal discomfort. Best of all, you get the classic leather abrasion and CE impact protection in a package that looks great.

Great Value, nice fit
An excellent good value jacket for all around wear. I love, love the fit and the general look. I took out the weak piece of foam in the back and replaced with some real back armor, which slipped in very easily and holds in place well.

Areas of weakness are external pocket placement which makes getting stuff in and out a challenge (they're too far back), and the velcro tabs at the neck and arm ends tend to come undone as they're very small.

PROS: Easy add of back armor, Really nice fit, Great Value

CONS: Poor ext pocket placement, Velcro closures weak

First leather jacket
I use this jacket all the time. Never thought I would use it during hot days, but as soon as I start riding the jacket does a great job of letting air flow through the front to back, keeping me constantly cool. The downside is the zipper. the first day that I wore the jacket the zipper split on me. I took it back to Cycle Gear and they swapped it out for another jacket. They did also tell me that the jacket has a 5 year warranty so that was a plus just in case it happens again, I have had it for 3 month now and have had no issues with the zipper since. The side pocket are not the greatest but then again I don't ever have the need to use them.

PROS: Comfort, Great Air flow

CONS: Zipper

Good Jacket for great price!
Several months ago I got into a fast low sided accident. I mainly slid on gravel and of course, the road. My jacket held out quite well; Minor cut on the shoulder and I myself only suffered light road rash on my arm were the in-armor was not. Despite some negative remarks from other riders, I am quite pleased with Blt. The only con I can point out is of course how easily the zipper can break off.

PROS: Well Insulated, Weather Resistant, Comfortable, Stylish, Abrasion Resistant

CONS: Weak Zipper

BEST USES: Safety, Bad Weather, Casual Wear, Long Rides

Poor zipper.
I bought this jacket and day one of riding it, the zipper broke. Took me a bit to try to fix it while I was out on a ride, after over a half hour I was able to make it kinda close so I would not freeze on the ride home. Had this jacket about a week total, I will certainly invest in a better quality name brand jacket. doesnt matter how it fits if the zipper wont close and breaks off.

CONS: Zipper, Side pocket location

ok beginners jacket!
Bought the jacket because it was cheap and i didn't have a lot of money at the time. wish i would have waited and shelled out more money! owned the jacket for 2 months before... On a ride south zipper broke off and ended up riding the rest of the trip with out it. It ended up costing me 50 bucks to get a new zipper in the jacket!

What back armor fits into the slot? I would like to upgrade the foam padding to something more substantial.
Brett O on Mar 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The jacket comes with a thin foam backpad, but there is room for an aftermarket backpad as long as it is the type that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. I used the Bilt Dominator CE insert and it fits perfectly.
