Performed Well in a Serious Crash
I was recently in a fairly serious head-on collision (motorcycle vs truck) while wearing the BiLT Explorer jacket and pants. I had upgraded the backplate to a hard plate - but otherwise was wearing the stock kit. In spite of the head-on collision (approx. 50mph closing impact), there is no evidence of abrasion on the jacket or pants... and NONE on me. I walked away with a concussion, lots of bruises, and a smashed helmet. Everything held up perfectly and performed as HOPED. You never know until you're in the crash how something will hold up - but I can testify that my BiLT gear saved my body from a lot of serious damage.

I'm still riding!

Loving this jacket
I love this jacket. It fits well and flexes where it should. It has a pouch for a hydro blatter built in which is pretty cool. Lot of vents wil keep me cool in the summer. It kept me warm at 65mph on a 35degree morining with only a turtle neck shirt under the jacket.

PROS: Well Insulated

Explorer Waterproof Adventure Jacket
When a price seems too good to be true you are generally wise to suspect lower quality or "not as advertised" gear. This is not the case here. Riding the world I have hit all kinds of weather and every piece of gear I've used has had its short coming..even the $1000 big name gear. Since buying the Bilt package, I have put the waterproof gear through every weather type from desert to mountain top and it has performed admirably. The only marked shortcoming being the jacket collar sits a little too low to block driving rain. I have not had to test it on a major off, but it stood up well to a high side on a Mexican dirt road. Very good gear for a great price.

Best value for your money!
Purchased the Explorer pants and jacket for the upcoming Winter in November of 2013. Ride daily unless there is snow or ice on the road. All I need to say is that I am warmer than 90% of the folks on the road (in their cars) when it is 10 degrees outside on the freeway, no kidding..

Cannot recommend this enough, best purchase so far. I use the Discovery helmet but will be picking up the Explorer model here soon. Wife LOVES the high visibility offered by the yellow jacket...

Oh, by the way, this jacket is easy to disassemble and clean, I just throw it in the regular wash and use a gentle dry cycle...

Not so waterproof
Bought the set and I really like how they fit together and it makes me feel a little more safe. I ride 365 in Connecticut and don't own a car so I needed a pair that would be good for all seasons and this fit my need pretty well. With a pair of heated gloves and a balaclava I was warm at zero degrees for 20 miles at 80mph.

What I don't like about the product is in heavy rain the jacket is useless after 15 minutes because It starts to seep through the jacket. I still keep waterproof gear in my backpack when I ride.

The knee pads are also too low but can be sewed in place pretty easily.

PROS: Comfortable, Well Insulated, Stylish, Abrasion Resistant

CONS: not waterproof

BEST USES: Warm Weather, Long Rides, Safety, Light rain, Casual Wear

38 degrees & raining, kept warm & dry
I've worn leather for the last 45 years and just put up with stopping and getting in my rain suit. I'm taking a 15-20 day trip this spring and wanted a more versatile outfit. I've looked at suits costing $1,000 to $2,500 and decided that I really couldn't justify the expense. A friend suggested we go to Cycle Gear's opening in Schaumburg, IL. I tried on the Explorer jacket and pants and the fit was perfect. I liked the look of the outfit, not too flashy, and all of the zipped vents . The pants fit over my jeans for when the weather is warm and when cold I'll wear the long johns. When I got it home I took a 2 hour ride in 38 degree rain and was very comfortable. For the money this outfit seems hard to beat.

Loving this jacket
I love this jacket so far. I rode to work in the Prescott area and at 35 degres and highway speeds it kept me comfortable with only a turtle neck shirt underneath. It has lots of venting for when things heat up and i was super psyched to find a hydration blatter pouch built in that I dont remember reading anything about prior to the purchase. Feels well built. Only thing about it I didnt like was that it smelled funny when brand new like a foam mattress odor. Almost gone after just a few rides.

Great Buy for the Price!
Super impressed with this jacket. Bought it with the package, so it came with other pieces. There are vents all over this jacket. It was about 85 and humid when I rode, and as long as i was moving, it kept me cool. When we stopped, it got a little warm, but nothing unbearable. It is what I call a custom fit, there are so many adjustments on it. There are straps and zippers everywhere that allow you to adjust the fit. As one reviewer already said, its like the jacket was made for me. I am about 6'3" 215 and i got an XL. Fits perfectly. The only con, the inner liner is slightly difficult to take out and put back in. But I am glad it is able to be removed for washing. I got the day glow color, and I literally glow!! Safety is super important and this jacket helps. One of my favorite parts is all of the pockets. There are two on the right side of your chest, both of them are protected from the weather. Great jacket!! Cant wait to get my money's worth out of it!

Exceeds expectations
Bought this jacket as part of the package deal and wasn't expecting much for the price. MAN was I wrong. I'm 6'4" and this jacket fits PERFECT. The vented chest, sleeves and back really make a difference on hot afternoons after a cool morning. I've ridden 6K miles with mine and the outter shows zero sign of wear. All zippers function and no loose stitching. The inner shell is showing minor signs of wear but no tears, holes or non functional items.
I ride rain or shine and even got caught in a hail storm last summer. 100% water tight.
The zippers on the sleeves occasionally catch the inner material (pants do the same) but hasn't proven to be a nuisance. Back and elbow armor are a bit mushy but easily upgraded. GREAT all around adventure jacket. I wear mine comfortably up to 80 degrees and as low as 45 with the liner in.

What a great value!
I bought the jacket at regular price, and also received the pants, a decent helmet, and decent gloves (over $600 savings!). I also bought the Explorer boots to round out these designer duds. Anyway, the jacket is a bit heavy due to its multi-purpose use for warm, cold, or wet weather. The waterproof liner is built in to the jacket; and, there is a cold-weather liner that can be removed. There are nice-sized vents on the chest, sleeves, and back for normal or warm-weather riding. As long as you are moving, you should not overheat. The extra crash protection on the shoulders, elbows, and back looks like it will do the job too. I wear the whole outfit every time I get on the bike; you just never know when you will go down due to an unexpected tube puncture, or car. The fit is spacious enough that I wear casual clothes or a suit underneath, however, it can get toasty in moderately warm weather when you are stopped. I just wear this outfit with no other clothes when it is hot. The only shortcoming that I find with this all-purpose gear is that the collar area is not as tight a fit as the other openings; so, there is a bit of cold air that might get to your neck and chest. But, this is easily adapted to by spending an extra few seconds to tighten the neck Velcro, and/or put on a neck wrap or face mask that you will probably want to wear anyway. I will probably wear a Freeze-Out top when riding in colder weather just so my chest is as warm as the rest of my body. It is so comfortable to wear, and very effective. I have received compliments from other riders that I bump into. I am impressed by the bang for the buck! Is there anything comparable? Not that I could find.
