Arai Signet-X Striker Helmet

Step into the future with the Arai Signet-X Helmet. Arai took its famous long-oval head shape helmet, the Signet-Q and redesigned it for the next generation of riders. Built into the Signet-X are a multitude of comfort features, including a VAS MAX Vision face shield, anti-microbial liner, over-sized chin curtain and speaker pockets just to name a few. The emergency cheek pad tabs, which before were only featured on the Corsair series are now designed into the Arai Signet-X Helmet. In keeping with the "improve on what works" mentality of Arai, the QVF & QVR upper ventilation ducts look familiar but offer more adjustment and better flow. The Super Complex Laminate shell design combines multiple materials and techniques created internally by Arai that delivers both performance and safety.

Features:

  • Dual function lever releases both the side pod and the face shield for quick and simple face shield removal
  • VAS (Variable Axis System) shield latch system captures and holds the face shield closed and provides a de-mist position to slightly crack the shield open
  • VAS MAX Vision face shield provides excellent visibility in all seasons thanks to the included Pinlock insert
  • Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
  • Cheek pads with Emergency Release Tabs
  • QVF & QVR upper ventilation ducts look familiar but offer more adjustment and better flow through performance
  • PB-SCLC Shell has superb tensile strength due to a variety of carefully-positioned materials and light weight resin
  • Includes clear Pinlock insert
  • Snell 2015 and DOT approved

First Arai helmet... I can see what all the fuss is about
Color me a convert. I like to think I've had a pretty steady graduation in terms of helmet quality in the 10+ years I've been riding. First lid was an ill fitting cheap Zox helmet. I changed that out after less than 2 years for an HJC, I think the model was called an FG17. Crashed that one after a few years, and the helmet did an amazing job (I didn't even think I hit my head until I took my helmet off and had a look). Pleased with the HJC performance, I bought their then top-of-the-line RPHA10. It was lighter and had a smaller overall size compared to my previous HJC, which I was happy about. I thought that helmet fit great; even if it became a bit noisy as the years progressed. Never crashed in that one, and perhaps just as well. When the FIM annouced they would be implementing their own helmet standard to address the amount of questionable helmet racers were using, and concurrently noticing the amount of HJCs on the field especially in the "lower tier" classes, it made me take a hard look at my RPHA10. Perhaps the EPS was a bit thin on the side... which is what hit the ground first when I crashed my previous (and quite good, to be fair) HJC... Maybe I should shop around... My RPHA10 was done, anyway, being 6 years passed it's made by date, so I figured I'd try things on at this year's motorcycle show. After, trying on every helmet I was considering from a variety of brands (AGV, Bell, Shoei, and Shark), the Arai Signet X clearly fit me the best, by a large margin. I decided to bite the bullet and spring for my first "premium" lid. I can safely say I'm now an Arai fan. Everything about the helmet oozes quality; the visor, the vents, the paint, everything, and is Snell approved (which my RPHA wasn't). And it fits even better than the helmet I tried on at the show, which given the amount of people who likely tried that helmet on before, I shouldn't have been so surprised. And since I bought it at the show, I got a decent discount off of a freshly made helmet (it was made just over 6 months prior to my purchase, which means, if I keep the shiny side up, I'll be able to wear it for 5-6 years before I need to replace it. Probably with another Arai!)
