The Gunner has several features a colder weather or commuter will be interested in that are more a consequence of being water proof; the neck guard will keep your neck toasty but it also will keep your baklava from riding up and exposing your neck. It has a full-sleeve thermal liner and water proof napoleon pocket that is deep. The pocket fits my I phone 6+ and still had room for a wallet, easily. Between the liner and WP features you're getting nearly 100% wind blockage here. Fit is more relaxed, a 52 in my jaws leather is pretty tight but a 52 in this is a more roomy (to allow layering, it doesn't look baggy), it does still have a slight pre-curve, I would say keep to your sizing just expect a more casual cut. The full-sleeve liner is of the same material from all other removable liners A* makes, which is to say it's light, but does it's job well for it's weight. I particularly appreciated the extended back portion which prevents wind from entering in this area. I wish that the quality of sewing were better, I had to trim some loose thread from non-critical areas. The difference between my Jaws and this riding on the same day is significant. I was slightly miserable riding up to the store but completely unaware of the outside conditions riding back. It was a 30-40minuite ride on a mid40s day, by the end of it I could tell the fabric was starting to leech some cold so it should be great for short-medium distances at that 40-60 range. I would say that, given it's a pretty light weight jacket, any colder or anything longer than 2-3 hours in that lower temp range and you'll want something closer to a real tourer jacket with insulating material, or you would need to rely on heavy base layers.
The gunner's best qualities come from being designed as a WP jacket first, which makes a big difference as opposed to 'waterproofed' jackets I've owned. It sits in between a touring and sport jacket while remaining light enough and stylish enough that it works off the bike too. It's best used for the short to medium trips, such as to work, the shops, or a few hours up your favorite road. Any longer in any cooler weather though, you'll likely want to invest in something designed for touring, and I'm certain all the WP qualities will make it miserable for anything above 80F.

I have three main complaints, first and least important is the removable thermal layer, on its own it does a good job with temperatures around 50°F, but it'll need some help from base layers if you intend to take it to freezing temperatures. I wish it was a little warmer, but it's not bad.
Second, annoyingly I've had the main zipper fail on me while riding. There's nothing worst than riding along and all of a sudden you feel this rush of cold air hit your stomach, firstly because you lost all of the heat in the jacket, and secondly with the zipper opening up from the bottom you could have a serious problem with the jacket performing as intended in the event it's called upon. Not to mention having to spend a minute or two attempting to fix your zipper on the side of a cold road can be a bit aggravating.
Finally my biggest problem with the jacket is the collar. Pro, it has a loop back, which is nice. Con, I find myself always using the loop back due to the stiffness of the flap, if I use it as intended I find that it chokes me, which is uncomfortable. Biggest con, despite the marketing material stating that the collar is lined with a material that won't chafe I've found that it does indeed chafe my neck, which was very unpleasant the other day when I was wearing the jacket on an almost 9 hour ride. If you are wearing a baselayer that has a higher collar than the Gunner's collar it's not a problem, but if you go with a baselayer with a short or no collar it could be a problem.
Overall it's a budget jacket and it appears that they have skimped on some of the finer details on the jacket, the main zipper should be a beefier YKK zipper that won't pull apart as easily, and the collar needs to be addressed, adding both a softer material as a liner, and adding a soft cutout to the flap as Alpinestars has done on a number of their other jackets.
Other than that, venting is fair, it's a colder weather jacket so don't expect to ride with it on a hot day, and the rest of the fit and finish is of a very acceptable quality, I just wish they had paid more attention to some of the details.
