The only major problem I had was the strap breaking that went around the steering stem. It was the plastic buckle. I think it got pinched or the weight pulled on it caused it to break. That happened pretty early on when I got the back. I ended up just duct taping the the strap on and have been using it that way for years ever since. The bag fits a lot of stuff and is in the perfect position to use it to rest on during those long rides. This fit on my 2005 R1. Unfortunately, my 2016 R1 doesn't have a metal gas tank so this will not transfer over.
First the material is heavy duty along with the zippers.
Storage plenty of it. You got 2 pockets on the side for sunglasses, wallets or cell phones. One pocket under the bag.
The front pocket has a clear plastic so you can look down and see a map or cell phone for directions, plus you can use the touch screen through the plastic.
The inside storage is big enough for books, shoes, a rolled up shirt, jeans and a jacket. Depending how you use the space.
The magnets are fine, I ride in the bay area and no way your bag is going anywhere. Securing you r helmet is simple and secure.
So easy and simple to use. The only problem is the price I think should be $20 less but I would buy another if need be.
The bag is a bit big sometimes and unnecessarily bulky, some compression straps would have been great. I wrapped a bungee net around it to keep it a little narrower and flatter as it sits on the tank.
I'd also be a little happier if the magnets were a bit stronger, but I think they are probably ok.
I also added an additional tether through the grommet on the bottom, probably unnecessary but it feels more secure to me as my other tank bag has much stronger magnets and I think this one slides around a bit.
I haven't used the backpack features but the big carry handle is wide and convenient.
