UPS Signatures and Tracking
Cycle Gear strongly recommends taking advantage of the "signature required" option when placing your order. Unfortunately, if your particular delivery destination doesn't have a secure or at least well-hidden place for drop-off, there's always the possibility of a garden gnome running off with your stuff. Don't laugh - it happens.
During checkout, you have the option to "require a signature" for delivery. If you choose this, UPS will deliver the package(s) only if someone at the delivery address signs for the package. If nobody is available (or willing) to sign, the package(s) will be held at the UPS center and another delivery attempt will be made. After a few tries, they'll send the package(s) back to us.
If you do not require a signature, the package(s) will be left at your doorstep. Once UPS drops off a package, it is considered yours - if you didn't require a signature and the package is no longer there, we will be happy to sell the item(s) to you again. In other words, we strongly encourage you to require a signature unless you are certain that your package(s) will be safe.
If you're like us, you want that
stuff right now so you can get out there and ride, so please
consider this option carefully.
Below is a brief explanation of
some UPS terms and just what happens if you choose to require
a signature, but don't happen to be home when it arrives the
first time, along with a few other frequently asked questions
along these lines.
What happens if I request a signature, but no one is home
to sign for the package?
A UPS InfoNotice
is left by the UPS driver to indicate a delivery has been attempted.
UPS will make three attempts to deliver before
returning the package to your local UPS center. With each attempt you have the
option of leaving the driver a note with instructions such as "throw package over fence", "leave
package with neighbor", etc. After the third unsuccessful attempt, you will
have a few days to pick up the package(s) from the UPS distribution center before they are sent back to us.
Can I reroute my package to a different location?
UPS does not reroute packages until one delivery attempt is made
to the original shipping address. After the first attempt, you can complete a
UPS Delivery Change Request online. Package rerouting is not always available - you will have to contact your UPS Customer Service Representative for specific information.
What does a status of "On Time" mean when checking the status of my package?
The "On Time" designation in the Status field of the Tracking Summary means that
your package is in routine transit, and should be delivered on the scheduled
delivery date.
What does "Rescheduled" mean when
checking the status of my package?
The "Rescheduled" designation,in the Status field of the Tracking Summary means
that the delivery date has been changed, and the package should be delivered on
the revised delivery date. See the Tracking Results page for the rescheduled
delivery date.
What does "Returned to Shipper"
mean when checking the status of my package?
The "Returned to Shipper" designation in the Status field of the Tracking
Summary means that the package was returned to the original shipper. Possible
reasons for return include, but are not limited to:
- Package being
refused by the intended receiver
-
Physical address
not able to be found by UPS
- Unable to
deliver after multiple delivery attempts
