I purchased this for hot weather use. When it gets hot, it is easy to wear less, which also decreases crash/road rash protection.
I wore these pants over my shorts on a 90 degree+ day & was comfortable.
There is a design error I did not expect. I ride with lace-up, over-the-ankle boots. The lower leg opening really is NOT big enough to accomodate putting these pants on while wearing boots. Since the lower leg has a zipper & velcro, this design flaw can be easily corrected by enlarging the opening & a bit more velcro.
I made an ordering error. My waist is 36". I figured proper fit would require a 38" overpant. The waist is too large & can not be adjusted down sufficiently. When walking, this oversize makes the knee armor too low.
The bottom line is that the product is a recommended buy "as advertized" if ordered in the proper size.

36' was too big on my 36 waist. Oddly the 34's fit me perfect. Not a problem. But when I rode the bike the knee armor has 2 issues...too small and it does not sit on the knee. It's way off to the side. If the armor does not sit properly=useless. The Cycle Gear sales person told me to the "move the pocket for the knee pad". Do I look like I want to ALTER these?? No I am not bowlegged. Yes, they flow air good. But I had to return these, that hardly protected better than jeans. I can neither recommend or not.Check how the armor sits before purchasing.

Comments about Sport Mesh Motorcycle Pants:

I bought these pants to wear as just pants and not over jeans. I wear size 38 to 40 and reading reviews I ordered size 36 and they fit perfect for my use. The pants are very light weight. The only con is the mesh looks to be some kind of light weight material and not an open mesh material. So I am not too confident how well the mesh area will perform during an accident. If I wanted comfortable warm day riding pants I would get these again, if I wanted something for more crash protection I would get something different.

This is an overpant, you should buy the same size you use normally. The only inconvenient is that the knee guards are a little low for me, I'm 5'10"

Work Well Overall- Careful With Zippers

Comments about Sport Mesh Motorcycle Pants:

I've been street riding since 1974, but didn't upgrade to a motorcycle-specific jacket for 20 years. It took another 9 years to get boots, and another 3 to get overpants (slow learner). I no longer feel comfortable riding without motorcycle-specific gear these days as the potential consequences are not worth the risk.

I would consider these minimal protection, mainly abrasion resistance with some knee protection thanks to the included knee armor. There is no padding anywhere which keeps bulk down so these definitely do not qualify for track riding. That said, they are comfortable up to about 90 degrees (in non-humid California at least), and keep my legs warm enough to commute in down to the mid-40's.

You have to be careful with the zippers, particularly with the short zippers at the leg cuffs as the material behind them tends to get caught in the zipper if you're not. More of an annoyance than a problem as even being reasonably careful it happens probably 20% of the time. Nothing has broken yet in over a year of nearly daily use, so durability is good so far.

A good value- if you get them when they're half off.

Comments about BILT Sport Mesh Motorcycle Pants:

These pants fit well and are comfortable even on 500 mile days. The knee armor does tend to rotate inward so I made a small stitch in the armor pocket to keep it where I want. Comfortable from mid 60s to high 90s. I have about 2k miles on them and they are holding up well.
