Comments about FIRSTGEAR 2011 Mesh-Tex Motorcycle Jacket:

It's been 95deg. in Phoenix and this jacket doesn't build up heat while sitting at lights. Fit is good with no bunching while riding. Could use more cuff adjustment. Hi-viz yellow has all but eliminated people turning left in front of me.

Comments about FIRSTGEAR 2011 Mesh-Tex Motorcycle Jacket:

A buddy recommended this jacket for comfort and protection when riding in the heat of summer. This is a great jacket. The mesh allows amble air flow; it feels like you're wearing a t-shirt but you have the benefit of high viz, road rash resistant mesh jacket with hard plastic armor for elbows, shoulders and padding for spine. A snap-out insert makes this summer jacket dual purpose for cooler days. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about FIRSTGEAR 2011 Mesh-Tex Motorcycle Jacket:

Over the 3 day 4th of July weekend I rode 1500 plus miles up the West Coast of Michigan, over the Macinac bridge to Sault St Marie, around the UP and back home to Maumee, OH. A great little trip for me. Both riders and drivers far from me were turning their heads so I know I was being seen early on the roadways. Some riders on the other side were waving a quarter of a mile away or more. Figure it out: If I gain 1 second of early warning visability at 60 mph that equals 88 feet. There's a lot you and they can do in 88 feet to avoid an accident. See pics attached showing the Firstgear 2011 Mesh-Tex Jacket,Vega Summit 3.0 Modular Hi-Vis Yellow helmet and Black Stallion Hi-Vis Yellow reflective mesh riding gloves. #1 safety riding tenant: To see and be seen on the roadway which is why road construction workers wear hi-vis yellow with reflective strips.

        nice afforable jacket

Comments about FIRSTGEAR 2011 Mesh-Tex Motorcycle Jacket:

I bought this as my first jacket because of the price and because the silver color seemed like a good idea in the miami heat. I bought a small and I'm 6' and ~140lbs. It was actually too large on my, to where the armor slides around when stationary. I would check sizing if possible for you, but I know I have an abnormally lanky/skinny body size.

The armor feels very solid and the jacket seems well built for the money. The review above about the guy in the wreck was one reason I bought it. It is made of 250 denier which is far from the most abrasion resistant material available. I would research that if you're concern is safety. That said, it won't melt in the way much of these nylon/polyester jackets will which is a good compromise. For my size the jacket is a bit bulky and heavy, but it is well ventilated and covered. It's not a typical mesh jacket with large exposed areas. The back armor is impact resistant foam. I'd prefer something harder but it makes the jacket more natural.

In the middle of summer in Miami it gets pretty hot when stopped. When moving it's fine, but I bet there's cooler jackets out there.

Overall worth the money and a good option for an affordable jacket. I'm upgrading to a fieldsheer corsair for the 1000 denier protection.

Comments about FIRSTGEAR 2011 Mesh-Tex Motorcycle Jacket:

Just got into a wreck. Wiped out doing 35mph around a bend when I hit some major gravel. Jacket took most of the hit - like skidding over a grindstone. CER armor saved me from a broken elbow and dislocated shoulder, and the fabric took all the road rash. Walked away with bruises, and that's all. One heck of a good jacket. Even after that, mine's just a bit scuffed. I wouldn't just recommend this jacket, I'd buy one for anyone I love. No need to second guess yourself. This jacket rules!
