I use the UClear HBC200 for skiing. The noise cancellation system really works; my wife cannot hear anything but my voice even when I'm running downhill against the wind. (Check out the UClear ad video with the leaf blower!). The directional microphones also work perfectly clearly; it's a grat joy, on hearing the phone ring, to just say Hello and be connected.

I would advise skiers to purchase the HBC 220 which is exactly the same device with the addition of two cleverly designed Velcro straps for attaching the Control Unit to the ski helmet: one for the chin straps where they cross outside the ear pads; and another option to attach to your goggles strap if you prefer.

And you can play your music Bluetooth to the speakers from your phone too of course, and control the play from the Control Unit. No need to dig out your phone.

And I haven't even tried the Intercom capability. I'm getting my wife a unit so we can speak in that way on the mountain.

If you need/want to be on this kind of communication, this thing really works.

I just recieved my HBC200 Dual Force. Installation was a breeze even the pairing went well but after pairing I did realize Each Rider or passenger must have their own music source such as a phone or mp3 player, they can not both (rider and passenger) listen to the same music source such as 1 phone. Immediately upon usage I realized the bigest issue. You can't set them up to listen to music and allow the intercom to used and then switch back to music without actually reaching to the unit and first pausing your music then switching to intercom, then when complete reaching to the unit to switch back to music and then un pausing the music. All to just go through the same process to talk to your passenger again next time. I was previously using a ChatterBox and it would allow you to listen to music until the intercom was activated either through a PTT or Vox it would then switch back to music when the conversation was completed. I have spoke with UCLEAR support and they verified this unit will not work that way and requires manually switching between intercom and music by the rider each and every time. This is unacceptable and I'll be returning my units immediately.

Comments about UCLEAR HBC200 Force Bluetooth Communicator:

Great headset to connect to phones or GPS. Not to big or cumbersome. Good battery life. Sound is also pretty clear. Not having an extending mic is great. Controls can be hard to use especially with gloves on.

      UClear Not so User Friendly

Comments about HBC200 Force Bluetooth Communicator:

I used the Cardo Scala for several years until it died. Thought I'd try the UClear since it was comparably priced and didn't have a boom mic. Used it for a week and took it back.

Overall it's good, and if you don't intend to place voice calls, it might be good enough for the average user. But I got so used to the easy functionality of the Cardo Scala that this one drove me crazy. For example, to trigger voice dialing, you have to hold the power button and volume down button for 2 seconds! Whoever designed that stupid combo apparently (1) never placed calls with gloves on and (2) never tried to push buttons while splitting lanes in CA.

I even contacted UClear via their website/email and asked if I could change the way the buttons work. Crickets. So between not being user friendly (aside from the easy install and pairing) and the complete lack of customer support, I'm better off going back to the tried and true.

To be fair, the boomless mic is pretty impressive. And setup was super-simple. Just wish these jokers had put this to a real world test before they programmed the craziness that you have to go through with the buttons.

Comments about UCLEAR HBC200 Force Bluetooth Communicator:

It really does reduce the wind noise very well. I think the limitation (for it working on higher speeds) is on the loudness of the speaker compared to ambient noise in your helmet as opposed to the wind noise picked up by the mic. I found it works up to ~60-70 mph.
The speakers aren't tremendously loud and don't have amazing sound quality but they do the job.
Also the line of sight range is impressive when doing a direct uclear to uclear chat.

Initially got this to keep me entertained with music on a 5k tour. Now I use it pretty much every time I ride. Call quality is pretty incredible even at high speeds. If you have never ridden while chatting with your fellow riders, man are you missing out. I highly recommend this product.
